The Little River is a U.S. Geological Survey. Via the Withlacoochee and the Suwannee River its waters flow to the Gulf of Mexico. The Little River was also known historically as the Ockolocoochee River. The Little River rises in northwestern Turner County, Georgia, northwest of Ashburn. The river flows southeast into Tift County, passing west of Tifton, then turns more southerly as it becomes the boundary between Colquitt and Cook counties. The river subsequently becomes the boundary between Cook and Brooks counties, then between Brooks and Lowndes counties. It flows into the Withlacoochee River west of the center of Valdosta near the now abandoned town of Troupville, Georgia. Reed Bingham State Park
Reed Bingham State Park is a 1,613 acre (6.53 km²) Georgia state park in Colquitt County and Cook County located 5 miles east of Ellenton. The park surrounds a 375 acre (1.52 km²) lake that is a tourist attraction in southern Georgia. Inside the park, visitors can hike the 3.5 mile (5.6 km) long Coastal Plains Nature Trail, which goes through a baldcypress swamp, a pitcher plant bog, and sandhill area. The park also contains many animals, including the threatened gopher tortoise and the indigo snake. In addition, the park offers camping and fishing with special ponds for kids that are only open on specific dates. U.S. Route 82 (US 82) is an east–west United States highway in the Southern United States. Created on July 1, 1931 across central Mississippi and southern Arkansas, US 82 eventually became a 1,625-mile (2,615 km) route extending from the White Sands of New Mexico to Georgia's Atlantic coast. The Brunswick and Western Railroad (known earlier as the Brunswick and Florida Railroad and the Brunswick and Albany Railroad) is a historic railroad in southern Georgia that at its greatest extent ran from Brunswick near the coast to Albany. Segments of the line still exist today. The Brunswick and Florida Railroad ran from Brunswick west to Glenmore (located about 10 miles west of present-day Waycross), where it would connect with the Atlantic and Gulf Railroad. The Georgia, Ashburn, Sylvester and Camilla Railway was founded in 1922 and operated a former line of the failed Gulf Line Railway from Ashburn, GA to Camilla, GA. The GAS&C was a subsidiary of the Georgia Northern Railway which was purchased by the Southern Railway in 1966 and operated as a subsidiary. The railroad used steam locomotives until 1948 when it was replaced by a diesel. The GAS&C was fully merged into the GN in 1972.
