Girl
A girl is a young female human, usually a child or an adolescent. When a girl becomes an adult, she is accurately described as a ''woman''. However, the term ''girl'' is also used for other meanings, including ''young woman'',Dictionary.com, "Girl"'' Retrieved January 2, 2008. and is sometimes used as a synonym for ''daughter'', or ''girlfriend''. In certain contexts, the usage of ''girl'' for a woman may be derogatory. ''Girl'' may also be a term of endearment used by an adult, usually a woman, to designate adult female friends. ''Girl'' also appears in portmanteaus (compound words) like ''showgirl'', ''cowgirl'', and '' schoolgirl''. The treatment and status of girls in any society is usually closely related to the status of women in that culture. In cultures where women have a low societal position, girls may be unwanted by their parents, and the state may invest less in services for girls. Girls' upbringing ranges from being relatively the same as that of boys to co ...

Little Girls (Oingo Boingo Song)
"Little Girls" is a song by American new wave group Oingo Boingo and the opening track of their debut album ''Only a Lad''. Background "Little Girls" was written by Danny Elfman after reading an article in a newspaper. The song was written as a satire and has a strong punk influence, plus horn arrangements. When asked about the song's darkly humorous lyrics in 2010, Elfman replied that: Elfman would reiterate this view in 2014, claiming that the song was an "in-your-face facetious jab." Elfman has occasionally offered other explanations; in a 1985 concert he jokingly suggested that the song was about how his girlfriend was so "very, very little" that "she fits in the palm of ishand." "Little Girls" was described by '' Creative Loafing Tampa'' as one of the standout tracks of ''Only a Lad''. The music video, directed by his brother Richard Elfman, depicts Elfman in an empty house dancing with girls and people with dwarfism, followed by on-lookers (portrayed by other members of ...

The Monkees Present
''The Monkees Present'' (full title being ''The Monkees Present Micky, David, Michael,'' also known as simply ''Present'') is the Monkees' eighth album. It is the second Monkees album released after the departure of Peter Tork and the last to feature Michael Nesmith until 1996's '' Justus''. History The original plan for ''Present'' was to release a double album which devoted one side to each member of the group, who by now were recording virtually as solo artists. With Tork now gone, and record sales waning, the decision was made to pare the track selection down to a single disc. By the time recording had begun in earnest for ''Present'', the Monkees had passed their commercial peak. As Screen Gems' interest in the Monkees' activities waned, the members were given more control over the creation of the album. Unlike ''Instant Replay'', all but two songs were recorded in 1968 or 1969, and the album was accompanied by a strong advertising push (including a cross promotion with Kool ...

Dream, After Dream
''Dream, After Dream'', performed by the American rock band Journey, is the soundtrack album to the Japanese fantasy film ''Yume, Yume No Ato'' directed by fashion designer Kenzo Takada. Released in 1980 on Columbia Records, it was the seventh album-length recording by the group. The soundtrack firmly overshadowed the film itself, which enjoyed little fame. The album was a significant departure from the hard rock which characterized the band's three preceding albums, harking back to their progressive rock beginnings and relying on complex musicianship and instrumentals. ''Dream, After Dream'' features a full vocal on three of its nine tracks, "Destiny", "Sand Castles" and "Little Girl". "Little Girl" was later the B-side of the " Open Arms" single and was featured on Journey's '' Time3'' collection. It also appears as a bonus track on the 2006 reissue of '' Departure'' and the 2011 edition of '' Greatest Hits 2''. "Destiny" is the band's longest recorded song. This was the last ...

Produced by Mike Vernon and released in 1966 by Decca Records (UK) and London Records (US), it pioneered a guitar-dominated blues-rock sound. The album was commercially successful and most critics viewed it positively. In 2003 and 2012, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked it number 195 on its list of the " 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". It was voted number 391 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums (2000). Background After the release of the Mayall's first album, the live '' John Mayall Plays John Mayall'', Eric Clapton joined the group as the lead guitarist.
