This page tracks the progress of the Lithuania men's national basketball team participating in EuroBasket 2015. Main roster On May 5, head coach Jonas Kazlauskas published the extended 25–player main roster. The list did not included two long-time national team players: Simas Jasaitis and Kšyštof Lavrinovič. On July 9, the shortened roster was announced. Lithuania Men's National Basketball Team
The Lithuania men's national basketball team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė vyrų krepšinio rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. Despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of less than 3 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe. The Lithuanian national team won the last EuroBasket tournaments prior to World War II, in 1937 and 1939. The 1939 team was led by Frank Lubin, who helped popularize basketball in the country and was called the "grandfather of Lithuanian basketball". Following the country's annexation by the Soviet Union during the war, Lithuanian players frequently formed the core of the Soviet national team. Linas Kleiza
Linas Kleiza (; born January 3, 1985) is a Lithuanian professional basketball executive and former player. Standing at , he played at the small forward and power forward positions. In 2010, he was the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy winner and a member of the All-EuroLeague First Team. Kleiza represented the senior Lithuanian national basketball team in international competitions. He led them to a bronze medal in the 2010 FIBA World Championship, and was chosen to the All-Tournament Team. He also won a silver medal in the EuroBasket 2013, earning an All-EuroBasket Team selection, and a bronze medal in the EuroBasket 2007. Early years Kleiza was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. Rokas Giedraitis
Rokas Giedraitis (born August 16, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Baskonia of the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. He plays at the small forward position. Professional career In 2013, Giedraitis was named Finals MVP of the NKL after scoring 26 points and leading his team to title. He then signed with BC Šiauliai club in which his father played his whole career. After continuing his solid playing, Giedraitis was later signed by the Lithuanian powerhouse Lietuvos rytas Vilnius and joined it in 2015. On July 5, 2018, Giedraitis terminated his contract with the team. On July 6, 2018, he signed a three-year contract with Alba Berlin of the Basketball Bundesliga. Marius Runkauskas
Marius Runkauskas (born May 20, 1986) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Gargždai-SC of the National Basketball League (NKL). He plays primarily at the shooting guard position, but he can also play point guard, if needed. Early years Runkauskas played in the Lithuanian Pupils Basketball League (MKL), for the V. Chomičius basketball school. Professional career Runkauskas started his professional basketball career in the Klaipėda, NKL (Lithuanian 2nd Division) team, Nafta-Uni-Laivitė, in 2003. After he became a champion of the NKL, in 2007, with Nafta-Uni-Laivitė, Klaipėda's strongest basketball club invited him to join their team. Pallacanestro Reggiana
Pallacanestro Reggiana, also known for sponsorship reasons as UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, is an Italian professional basketball team based in Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna. It plays in the LBA as of the 2022-23 season. History 1970s Pallacanestro Reggiana was founded on 3 September 1974 by eight friends who wanted to establish a club that would unite the basketball community of Reggio Emilia. They started to play in the regional Promozione in a white and blue jersey sponsored by Magazzini Jolly, with the season ending with a promotion to the Serie D, in which they stayed a couple of seasons before again moving up, to the Serie C. Darjuš Lavrinovič
Darjuš Lavrinovič ( pl, Dariusz Ławrynowicz, born 1 November 1979) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for the BC Vytis of the National Basketball League. He is 2.12m (6' 11½") in height. He plays the center position. He is also a member of the Lithuanian national basketball team. Lavrinovič was an All-EuroLeague Second Team selection in 2006. Professional career Darjuš Lavrinovič blossomed in the EuroLeague 2005–06 season while playing with Žalgiris Kaunas, as he earned an All-EuroLeague Second Team selection. Edgaras Ulanovas (born January 7, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. He primarily plays at the small forward position. Professional career On 25 April 2014, Ulanovas was named the Co-VTB United League Young Player of the Year, along with Dmitry Kulagin. In 2017, he was named the MVP of the 2017 King Mindaugas Cup, and also the MVP of the 2017 LKL Finals. In 2019, Ulanovas was named the LKL Finals MVP for a second time in his career. Gediminas Orelik ( lt, Gediminas Orelikas) (born 14 May 1990) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Lietkabelis Panevėžys of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). He primarily plays at power forward position. Professional career At the conclusion of the Lithuanian League's 2012–13 season, Orelik won the league's season MVP award, after averaging 17.1 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and 21.2 efficiency points per game. Vaidas Kariniauskas (born 16 November 1993) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Rapid București of the Liga Națională. Standing at , he primarily plays at the point guard position. Professional career Kariniauskas won the NKL bronze in 2012 and 2013 with BC Žalgiris-2. On 19 November 2013, he was loaned to BC Lietkabelis in order to get more playing time. BC Neptūnas
Basketball Club Neptūnas ( lt, Krepšinio klubas Neptūnas), commonly known as Neptūnas or Neptūnas Klaipėda, is a Lithuanian professional basketball team based in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The club participates in the Lithuanian Basketball League and internationally in the Champions League. It was founded in 1962 under the name BC Maistas (English: Food) and in 1964, BC Maistas's name was changed to BC Neptūnas. The club carries the name of the Roman sea god Neptune. Neptūnas participated in the 2014–15 EuroLeague season and is only the third Lithuanian club to participate in the premier European basketball league, after Žalgiris and Rytas. Mindaugas Girdžiūnas (born 20 January 1989) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player currently playing for BC Neptūnas, Neptūnas Klaipėda. Professional career Girdžiūnas joined BC Neptūnas, Neptūnas in 2009, after showing good performance in Lithuanian third strongest basketball league - Regional Basketball League (Lithuania), Regional Basketball League playing for Klaipėdos Tekoda.
