Literaturpreis Der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung
Literaturpreis der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a literary prize of Germany. The prize money is €20,000 and the prize ceremony takes place in Weimar. The first winner was Sarah Kirsch. The prize is awarded "to authors who give freedom their word". The Konrad Adenauer Foundation has been awarding the prize since 1993. A literary award or literary prize is an award presented in recognition of a particularly lauded Literature, literary piece or body of work. It is normally presented to an author. Organizations Most literary awards come with a corresponding award ceremony. Petra Morsbach
Petra Morsbach (born 1 June 1956) is a German author. Life and career Morsbach was born in Zürich, but grew up in Germany. She studied at Munich University and Leningrad Theater Academy. Morsbach's first novel, ''Plötzlich ist es Abend'' (''Suddenly it's Evening''), was published in 1995 and follows the life of a Russian woman whose family was prosecuted by Joseph Stalin. ''Opernroman'', her second novel, was published in 1998 and is based on Morsbach's experience working in theatre for a decade. It is set in the fictional town of Neustadt am Rhein and centers around the local opera company throughout a season. Her novel ''Gottesdiener'' (''God's Servant'') was published in 2004 and follows the life of an elderly Catholic priest. Deutschlandfunk Kultur (; abbreviated to ''DLF Kultur'' or ''DKultur'') is a culture-oriented radio station and part of Deutschlandradio, a set of national radio stations in Germany. Initially named ''DeutschlandRadio Berlin'', the station was renamed ''Deutschlandradio Kultur'' on 1 April 2005. The present name was adopted on 1 May 2017. The station's studios are in what was the RIAS building at Hans-Rosenthal-Platz in Schöneberg, Berlin. History Deutschlandfunk Kultur's roots go back to the first Deutschlandsender, set up in 1926. Barbara Honigmann
Barbara Honigmann (born 12 February 1949 in East Berlin) is a German author, artist and theater director. Honigmann is the daughter of Jewish emigrant parents, who returned to East Berlin in 1947 after a period of exile in Great Britain. Her parents were Litzi Friedmann (1910–1991; Alice Kohlmann), an Austrian Communist who was the first wife of Kim Philby, a member of the Cambridge Five, and Georg Honigmann, PhD (1903–1984). Her mother was born in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, and worked in film dubbing in her later years. Her father was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and was the chief editor of the ''Berliner Zeitung'' while also being a filmmaker. The couple divorced in 1954. Mathias Énard (born 1972) is a French novelist. He studied Persian and Arabic and spent long periods in the Middle East. He has lived in Barcelona for about fifteen years, interrupted in 2013 by a writing residency in Berlin. Michael Kleeberg (born 24 August 1959 in Stuttgart), is a German writer and translator. He studied political science and modern history at the University of Hamburg and visual communication at the Kunsthochschule Hamburg. Marica Bodrožić
Marica Bodrožić (born 1973) is a German writer of Croatian descent. She was born in in Cista Provo, Croatia in the former Yugoslavia. She moved to Germany as a child and currently lives in Berlin. Bodrožić writes primarily in the German language. She is fluent in multiple genres, including essays, novels, poems, and stories. She has worked as a literary translator and a teacher of creative writing. One of her best known works is the novel ''Kirschholz und alte Gefühle'' (''A Cherrywood Table'') which received the EU Prize for Literature. Rüdiger Safranski
Rüdiger Safranski (born 1 January 1945) is a German philosopher and author. Life From 1965 to 1972, Safranski studied philosophy (among others with Theodor W. Adorno), German literature, history and history of art at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and at the Free University in Berlin (then West Berlin). There, he worked as an assistant lecturer for German literature from 1972 to 1977. He earned a PhD from FU Berlin in 1976 for a dissertation by the title of "Studies on the Development of Working-Class Literature in the Federal Republic of Germany" (original german: Studien zur Entwicklung der Arbeiterliteratur in der Bundesrepublik). Martin Mosebach (born 31 July 1951, in Frankfurt am Main) is a German writer. Biography He has published novels, stories, and collections of poems, written scripts for several films, opera libretti, theatre and radio plays. His first major non-fiction work is the book '' The 21 - A Journey into the Land of Coptic Martyrs'' detailing his visit to Egypt to examine the lives of the 21 Coptic martyrs beheaded by ISIS in 2015. The German Academy for Language and Literature praised him for "combining stylistic splendour with original storytelling that demonstrates a humorous awareness of history." Arno Geiger
Arno Geiger (born 22 July 1968) is an Austrian novelist. Geiger grew up in the village of Wolfurt near Bregenz. He studied German studies, ancient history and comparative literature at the universities of Innsbruck and Vienna. He has worked as a freelance writer since 1993. From 1986 to 2002, he also worked as a technician at the annual Bregenzer Festspiele summer opera festival. In 1996 and in 2004, he took part in the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis competition at Klagenfurt.
