An ''akim'' ( kk, әкім, әкімдер / ''äkimder''; ky, аким; russian: аким) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. ''Akim'', meaning "God will establish", is derived from the Arabic word '' hakim'', which means "ruler" or "governor". Definitions Kazakhstan In Kazakhstan, an ''äkim'' is the head of an ''akimat'', a municipal, district, or provincial government (''akimat''), and serves as the Presidential representative. ''Äkims'' of provinces and cities are appointed to the post by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the ''äkims'' of other administrative and territorial units are appointed or selected to the post in an order defined by the President. He may also dismiss äkims from their posts. Jambyl Region
Jambyl or Zhambyl Region ( kk, Жамбыл облысы, translit=Jambyl oblysy; russian: Жамбылская область, Zhambylskaya oblast), formerly known as Dzhambul Region (russian: Джамбульская область, Dzhambulskaya Oblast) until 1991, is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is Taraz. The population of the region is 1,000,000; the city is 335,100. The region borders Kyrgyzstan, and is very near to Uzbekistan (all to the south). Omirbek Baigeldi
Ömirbek Bäigeldi (, ''Ömırbek Bäigeldı''; born 15 April 1939) is a retired Kazakh politician who was a member of the Senate of Kazakhstan where he served as the Chair from 30 January 1996 to 29 November 1999 and then its Deputy Chair from 1 December 1999 to 1 December 2005. Serik Umbetov
Serik is a town and district in Antalya Province of Turkey, east of the city of Antalya, along the Mediterranean coast. Geography Towards the coast the district is mainly flat farmland, used for growing vegetables, while the inland half of Serik is forested hills and the Taurus Mountains. The district has a typical Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and warm, wet winters, and the natural vegetation is dry shrubs. Serik itself is a town of 56,824 people as for 2012. The city of Antalya is nearby limiting the potential for retailing and commerce in Serik, but there is some light industry. A qanat or kārīz is a system for transporting water from an aquifer or water well to the surface, through an underground aqueduct; the system originated approximately 3,000 BC in what is now Iran.
