The Belgian Second Division winners are the winners of the second–highest league in Belgian football. The Second Division was established in 1905, as the Promotion. In 1923, the Promotion was played in two leagues of 14 clubs each. In 1926, when the Belgian First Division was renamed Premier Division, the Promotion became the First Division and was played in one league of 14 clubs. In 1931, the second level was split again into two leagues of 14 clubs. During and after World War II, the number of clubs in the First Division was not stable, and in 1947 it was stabilized to 16 clubs. In 1952, the First Division was renamed Second Division and was played in one league of 16 clubs. In 1973–74, a final round was introduced to decide the second club promoting to the First Division. Belgian Second Division
The Belgian Second Division (known as the Proximus League for sponsorship reasons) was the second-highest division in the Belgian football league system, one level below the Belgian Pro League. It was founded by the Royal Belgian Football Association in 1909 and folded in 2016, when it was replaced by the Belgian First Division B. Oud-Heverlee Leuven (), also called OH Leuven or OHL, is a Belgian football club from the city of Leuven. It was created in 2002 from the merger of three clubs, '' F.C. Royal Charleroi Sporting Club, often simply known as Charleroi or Sporting Charleroi, is a Belgian football club based in the city of Charleroi, in the province of Hainaut. Koninklijke Voetbalclub Oostende, also called KV Oostende () or KVO, is a Belgian football club from the city of Ostend, West Flanders in Belgium. The team was founded in 1904 as ''VG Oostende'' and has the matricule No. 31. Koninklijke Sportvereniging Waregem was a Belgian football club that existed between 1925 and 2001. The 2015–16 season of the Belgian Second Division (also known as Proximus League for sponsorship reasons) began on 8 August 2015 and ended in April 2016. Structural changes This season was the last under the name Second Division. Starting from 2016-17 the league is known as ''First Division B'' as a result of reforms in the Belgian league system. Royal Excel Mouscron (, ), commonly known as Mouscron or familiarly as REM, was a Belgian professional football club based in Mouscron. The team was formed as ''Royal Mouscron-Péruwelz'' in the spring of 2010 as a result of the merging between bankrupt R.E. Mouscron and R.R.C. Peruwelz. The 2012–13 season of the Belgian Second Division (also known as Belgacom League for sponsorship reasons) began on 22 August 2012 and ended in April 2013. The season was won by Oostende, who were thus promoted to the Belgian Pro League.
