List Of Trilobites
This list of trilobites is a comprehensive listing of all genera that have ever been included in the Arthropod class Trilobita, excluding purely vernacular terms. The list includes all commonly accepted genera, but also genera that are now considered invalid, doubtful ('), or were not formally published ('), as well as junior synonyms of more established names, and genera that are no longer considered trilobites. Asaphiscus Wheeleri 3
''Asaphiscus'' is a genus of trilobite that lived in the Cambrian. Its remains have been found in Australia and North America, especially in Utah. Distribution * A. wheeleri'' occurs in the Middle Cambrian of the United States (Delamaran, Lower Wheeler Shale, Millard County, Utah, 40.0°N, 113.0°W; and Menevian, Wheeler Formation, House Range, Utah, 39.2° N, 113.3° W). Description ''Asaphiscus'' are average size trilobites of (up to ) with a rather flat calcified Anatomical terms of location#Dorsal and ventral, dorsal exoskeleton of inverted egg-shaped outline, about 1½× longer than wide, with the widest point near the back of the headshield (or Trilobite#Cephalon, cephalon). The cephalon is about 40% of the body length, is semi-circular in shape, has wide rounded genal angles, and a well defined border of about ⅛× the length of the cephalon. The central raised area of the cephalon (or Trilobite#Cephalon, glabella is conical in outline with a wide rounded front and ... Acastocephala
''Acastocephala'' is a genus of trilobite from the middle Silurian, known from the United Kingdom. Taxonomy ''Acastocephala'' may contain the ancestor of '' Acastava''. Acaste (genus)
''Acaste'' is a genus of extinct trilobite of the order Phacopida which lived throughout the Silurian period (Wenlock Group). Though many species had been included, it now has only one species, ''Acaste downingiae.'' It is characterized by a convex dorsal surface, an absence of spines, a shortening of the head-shield and a general rounding off of all angles.H H Swinnerton - ''Outlines of Palaentology'', Edward Arnold (Publishers) Ltd, 1972 (p. 247) . Etymology * ''A. lokii'' is named after Loki, the Norse god of mischief. Loki tricked the blind god Höðr to kill the god of beauty Baldr, and so started the demise of the world (or Ragnarök). This epithet was chosen by Edgecombe because it is based on the cephalon of ''A. longisulcata'', which has turned out to be a mixed collection. The pygidium of ''A. longisulcata'' belongs to a Phacopoidea Phacopoidea is a superfamily of trilobite Trilobites (; meaning "three lobes") are extinct marine arthropods that form the c ...
