Beruas Museum
The Beruas Museum ( ms, Muzium Beruas) is a museum in Beruas, Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. The goal of the Beruas Museum is to collect history and artifacts related to the lost kingdom of Ganga Negara and Beruas. History In 1991, a historical study was conducted in Beruas by the Beruas Historical Survey Project. In 1995, the museum building was handed over to Perak State Government and it was opened in July the same year. Architecture The museum is housed in a former courthouse. Exhibitions The museum exhibits various treasures of the ancient government of Gangga Negara and Beruas, such as illustration maps and notes about its past. Sukhavana Meditation Monastery is a monastery in the Thai Forest Tradition of the Theravada lineage of Buddhism. Sukhavana Meditation Monastery is a centre of teaching and practice. It is located in the Bercham Cave, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. ''Sukhavana'' means "The Mountain Of Happiness " in Pāli, the Buddhist scriptural language of the ancient Canon. Taiping Lake Gardens
The Taiping Lake Gardens ( ms, Taman Tasik Taiping) is the first public garden established during the British rule in Malaysia. The garden is located near Bukit Larut, and is equidistant to the town centre and the Taiping Zoo. History The Taiping Lake Gardens was originally a mining ground before it was established as a public garden in 1880. The idea of a public garden was the brainchild of Colonel Robert Sandilands Frowd Walker. The garden was developed by Charles Compton Reade (1880–1933), who was also responsible for planning the Kuala Lumpur garden town, together with Lady Swettenham. The abandoned tin mine ground was donated by Chung Keng Quee as a recreation park for public use. Pangkor Island ( ms, Pulau Pangkor) is an island in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. It has a population of approximately 25,000. Nearby islands include Pangkor Laut Island, Giam Island, Mentagor Island, Simpan Island, and Tukun Terindak Island. The major industries of the island are tourism and fishing. Bukit Larut
Bukit Larut is a hill resort in Malaysia located in the state of Perak, Malaysia, 10 kilometres southwest from Taiping. It was established under the direction of British colonists in 1884 as a place of observation for tin mining activity and as a retreat for the English people who were based in nearby Larut and Taiping. The area was initially named Maxwell Hill after the British Malaya administrator George Maxwell, and was renamed as Bukit Larut in 1979. Bukit Larut is rich in biodiversity. The Sitiawan Settlement Museum is a museum in Koh Village, Sitiawan, Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. History The museum building was constructed in 1935 as the house for Pioneer Methodist Church pastors. On 7 September 2003, the house was converted into a museum. Perak Royal Museum
The Istana Kenangan (Jawi script: ايستان كنڠن; Remembrance Palace) which today houses the Perak Royal Museum, was a royal residence in Kuala Kangsar in Perak, Malaysia. History It was built in 1926 for Sultan Iskandar Shah by the Malay carpenter Enci Sepian from Bukit Mertajam, with the assistance of his sons Zainal Abidin and Ismail. The palace was previously known as the Valley Palace due to its location. The palace had been the official residence between 1931 and 1933. However, upon completion of Istana Iskandariah, the Istana Kenangan was used to host royal receptions and where the palace guests stayed. Architecture It is two storeys high with the top floor consisting of the bedchamber, family bedrooms and a dining hall. The ground floor was once used as the official royal office where its original floor was made out of solid wood. The wooden floor however had been replaced by marble.
