List Of State Highways In Oklahoma
Oklahoma has a large network of numbered highways maintained by the state. These roads fall into one of three categories: Interstate Highways, U.S. Highways, and state highways. Interstate and U.S. Highways are continuous with surrounding states, while state highways are not (though Oklahoma and another state's department of transportation may coordinate numbering). The majority of the numbered highways within Oklahoma are maintained by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). The only exceptions are sections of Interstate 44 (I-44) and U.S. Highway 412 (US 412), which run along turnpikes maintained by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA). (I-44 runs along the H.E. Bailey, Turner, and Will Rogers turnpikes; US 412 is signed along the Cimarron and Cherokee turnpikes.) Individual counties may establish a numbering system to apply to roads that they maintain. Oklahoma State Highway 3
State Highway 3, also abbreviated as SH-3 or OK-3, is a highway maintained by the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Traveling diagonally through Oklahoma, from the Panhandle to the far southeastern corner of the state, SH-3 is the longest state highway in the Oklahoma road system, at a total length of via SH-3E ( see below). Route description In the northwest Highway 3 begins at the Colorado state line north of Boise City, Oklahoma. At this terminus, it is concurrent with US-287/ US-385. Vinita is a city and county seat of Craig County, Oklahoma, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,743, a decline of 11.22 percent from the figure of 6,469 recorded in 2000. Antlers, Oklahoma
Antlers is a city in and the county seat of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 2,453 at the 2010 census, a 3.9 percent decline from 2,552 in 2000. The town was named for a kind of tree that becomes festooned with antlers shed by deer, and is taken as a sign of the location of a spring frequented by deer.Wilson, Linda D. Interstate 40 (I-40) is an Interstate Highway in Oklahoma that runs across the state from Texas to Arkansas. West of Oklahoma City, it parallels and replaces old U.S. Highway 66 (US-66), and, east of Oklahoma City, it parallels US-62, US-266, and US-64. I-40 is the longest Interstate highway in Oklahoma. Arkansas Highway 88
Highway 88 (AR 88, Ark. 88, and Hwy. 88) is a designation for five state highways in Arkansas. All routes are maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT). Mannsville is a town in Johnston County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 863 at the 2010 census, up from 587 in 2000. Geography Mannsville is located in southwestern Johnston County at (34.185707, -96.880271). It is bordered to the west by the town of Dickson in Carter County. State Highway 199, also known as SH-199 or, is a highway in southern Oklahoma. The highway connects Ardmore to Madill as a more northerly alternate to US-70, much of which SH-199 is an old alignment of. It provides access to the Fort Washita Historic Site. Route description The highway's western beginning is at SH-142 in Ardmore. This intersection is also the eastern terminus of SH-142. After leaving Ardmore, the highway continues along a due east course that takes it through the unincorporated places of Dripping Springs and Caldwell Hill. State Highway 48 (abbreviated SH-48) is a state highway in eastern Oklahoma that runs nearly from Bryan County to Pawnee County. SH-48 has one lettered spur, SH-48A, in Johnston County. Route description SH-48 begins at SH-78 six miles (10 km) north of Durant. Running north, it is five miles (8 km) to the first highway intersection, SH-22, just west of Kenefic. Stonewall, Oklahoma
Stonewall is a town in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, United States. Named for Confederate General Stonewall Jackson, the settlement's post office was established in December, 1874. History Before Stonewall was a town, it was primarily the Chickasaw tribes land. Robert L. Cochran was a Georgia man who settled Stonewall first by opening up a trading post on the original site of Stonewall. The site was declared Pontotoc, which would become the county name in the present. Along with the settling of Cochran's store a post office opened there in 1858.
