List Of Social Science Journals
The following is a partial list of social science journals, including history and area studies. There are thousands of academic journals covering the social sciences in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past. The list given here is far from exhaustive, and contains the most influential, currently publishing journals in each field. As a rule of thumb, each field should be represented by at most ten positions, chosen by their impact factors and other ratings. There are many important academic magazines that are not true peer-reviewed journals. They are not listed here. History
History (derived ) is the systematic study and the documentation of the human activity. The time period of event before the History of writing#Inventions of writing, invention of writing systems is considered prehistory. "History" is an umbrella term comprising past events as well as the memory, discovery, collection, organization, presentation, and interpretation of these events. Historians seek knowledge of the past using historical sources such as written documents, oral accounts, art and material artifacts, and ecological markers. History is not complete and still has debatable mysteries. History is also an Discipline (academia), academic discipline which uses narrative to describe, examine, question, and analyze past events, and investigate their patterns of cause and effect. Ancient TL
''Ancient TL '' is a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal covering luminescence and electron spin resonance dating. It is published by the Luminescence Dosimetry Laboratory, Department of Physics, East Carolina University. The journal was established in 1977 by D.W. Zimmerman (Washington University in St. Louis). Since 2015 the journal has been available online only. The journal is community maintained and articles can be published and downloaded free of charge. Central Asian Review
''Central Asian Review'' was a journal of Central Asian studies published from 1953 to 1968. A 1954 review in Soviet Studies deemed that its work on Soviet Central Asia "performs an invaluable service and does it well," while more recent scholarship notes that it "gave reports on a wide variety of Central Asian topics gleaned from the Soviet press with often favourable comment." The journal's full title was ''Central Asian Review: A Quarterly Review of Current Developments in Soviet Central Asia and Kazakhstan'' and was published quarterly by the Central Asian Research Centre in association with St. Antony's College, Oxford University. Founder and director of the center, Geoffrey Wheeler was the editor-in-chief and frequent contributor to the journal. It was included in the Bibliography of Asian Studies. Central Asia Monitor
''Central Asia Monitor'' was in publication from 1992 to 2001. The journal focused on historical and current events in the five former Soviet Republics of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Its founder and editor-in-chief was Valery Chalidze. The journal was published bimonthly. Its primary editor was David Nalle. The bi-monthly journal was published out of Fair Haven, Vermont and its now defunct url was www.chalidze.com/cam.htm. Its ISSN is 1062–2314. Azure (journal)
''Azure: Ideas for the Jewish Nation'' ( he, תכלת) (''Tchelet'') was a quarterly journal published by the Shalem Center in Jerusalem, Israel. ''Azure'' published new writing on issues relating to Jewish thought and identity, Zionism, and the State of Israel. It was published in both Hebrew and English, allowing for the exchange of ideas between Israelis and Jews worldwide. ''Azure'' was established in 1996 and was originally published twice a year, but grew into a quarterly. The journal's first editor-in-chief was Ofir Haivry, followed by Daniel Polisar and David Hazony. Assaf Sagiv was editor in chief from 2007 to 2012. Cameroon Cultural Review
Cameroon (; french: Cameroun, ff, Kamerun), officially the Republic of Cameroon (french: République du Cameroun, links=no), is a country in west-central Africa. It is bordered by Nigeria to the west and north; Chad to the northeast; the Central African Republic to the east; and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo to the south. The ''Journal of Archaeological Method and Theory'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal which focuses on methodology and theory in archaeology. It is published quarterly by Springer Science+Business Media. The journal originated in an annual edited volume series, ''Advances in Archaeological Method and Theory'', established by Michael Schiffer in 1978. The purpose of the series was to publish review articles covering current issues in archaeological theory. It was published by Academic Press between 1978 and 1987, and by Plenum Press between 1989 and 1993 as ''Archaeological Method and Theory''. The series moved to a quarterly journal format in 1994, in order to expand its scope from reviews to other types of papers. Schiffer continued as editor until 2000.
