Chania (regional Unit)
Chania ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Χανίων) is one of the four regional units of Greece, regional units of Crete; it covers the westernmost quarter of the island. Its capital is the city of Chania. Chania borders only one other regional unit: that of Rethymno (regional unit), Rethymno to the east. The western part of Crete is bounded to the north by the Sea of Crete, Cretan Sea, and to the west and south by the Mediterranean Sea. The regional unit also includes the southernmost island of Europe, Gavdos. Geography Chania regional unit, often informally termed 'Western Crete', is a part of the island which includes the districts of Apokoronas, Sfakia, and Selino in the far South West corner. Asi Gonia
Asi Gonia ( el, Ασή Γωνιά) is a mountainous village and a former community in the eastern part of the Chania regional unit in Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . Asi Gonia is situated east of the Lefka Ori mountain range, 20 km southwest of Rethymno. The communal office is situated in the heart of the community. Epanochori, Chania
Epanochori ( el, Επανωχώρι) is a community and a small village in Chania regional unit on the island of Crete, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of East Selino (''Anatoliko Selino''). Drapanias
Drapanias Drapanias is a small village in northwestern Crete, Chania (regional unit). It is the principal town in the Cretan municipality of Mythimna. It was built in the ruins of the ancient town of Mythimna. The locals describe Drapanias as having three parts: Drapanias, Ano Drapanias ("upper Drapanias") and Kato Drapanias ("lower Drapanias"). Drapanias can be accessed via the main road to Kissamos. The small traditional village has 3 traditional Greek taverns which serve Greek food, where the clientele are more than happy to play a game of tavli with you. The village has two bakeries in which you can find homemade pastries, bread and cakes, and there is also one small shop selling basic products. A large church is at the heart of Drapanias, situated in the square. The church holds regular services on Sundays and is the soul of many of the locals.
