Chalkidiki (; el, Χαλκιδική , also spelled Halkidiki, is a peninsula and regional unit of Greece, part of the region of Central Macedonia, in the geographic region of Macedonia in Northern Greece. The autonomous Mount Athos region constitutes the easternmost part of the peninsula, but not of the regional unit. The capital of Chalkidiki is the town of Polygyros, located in the centre of the peninsula, while the largest town is Nea Moudania. Chalkidiki is a popular summer tourist destination. Kassandreia
Kassandreia (, ''Kassándreia''; before 1955: Valta (Βάλτα, ''Válta'', meaning "town in the swamps")) is a town and a community in Chalkidiki, northern Greece. It is the seat of the municipality of Kassandra, in the center of the peninsula. Its population was 2,775 at the 2011 census. Kalyves, Chalkidiki
Kalyves Polygyrou or Kalives, ( el, Καλύβες, ), old name Mecyberna, is a village in Chalkidiki peninsula in Central Macedonia of Northern Greece. There is a kindergarten and primary school to accommodate pupils of both Kalyves and the nearby village of Yerakini. Patron Saint of the village is St. Modestus. Location Kalyves is located on the gulf of Torone, between the two fingers (smaller peninsulas) of Kassandra and Sithonia, 70 km southeast of Thessaloniki, 4.5 km west of Yerakini (Gerakini) and 6 km east of Olynthus. Kallithea, Chalkidiki
Kallithea () is a village and the seat of the homonymous municipal district in Kassandra. It is located in the regional unit of Chalkidiki. It has a population of 779 inhabitants according to the 2001 census. History Archeology This area is archaeologically famous, since in Kallithea a sanctuary of Dionysus and the Nymphs has been excavated, part of the sanctuary of Amun Zeus (which was venerated in the area since the 5th century BC) and the altar area. In the middle of the 4th century BC a great Doric style temple was built in his honor. Ierissos
Ierissos ( el, Ιερισσός) is a small town on the east coast of the Akti peninsula in Chalkidiki, Greece. It is located 160 km from Thessaloniki, and 10 km from the border of the Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy Mountain, or Mount Athos.
