Westminster is an area of Central London, part of the wider City of Westminster. The area, which extends from the River Thames to Oxford Street, has many visitor attractions and historic landmarks, including the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral and much of the West End shopping and entertainment district. The name ( ang, Westmynstre) originated from the informal description of the abbey church and royal peculiar of St Peter's (Westminster Abbey), west of the City of London (until the English Reformation there was also an Eastminster, near the Tower of London, in the East End of London). St Marylebone School
St Marylebone C of E School is a secondary school for girls in Marylebone, London. It specialises in Performing Arts, Maths & Computing. In the sixth form, boys can also attend. On 1 September 2011 the school became a converter academy having previously been judged "outstanding in every respect" by Ofsted. Westminster Under School
Westminster Under School is an independent preparatory school for boys aged 7 to 13, attached to Westminster School in London. The school was founded in 1943 in the precincts of Westminster School in Little Dean's Yard, just behind Westminster Abbey. In 1951 the Under School relocated to its own premises in Eccleston Square. Due to rising numbers of pupils in the 1960s and 1970s, the school moved again in 1981 to its present site (a former hospital) overlooking the Westminster School playing fields in Vincent Square. There are 285 pupils attending the school. The school has a strong musical tradition and provides choristers for St Margaret's Church in Westminster Abbey. Westminster Cathedral Choir School
Westminster Cathedral Choir School is a boarding and day preparatory school for 279 boys in the area of Victoria in the City of Westminster. It is one of two Roman Catholic cathedral schools in the United Kingdom, the other being St John's in Cardiff, Wales. Curriculum The school curriculum was rated as Excellent in the 2018 inspection. Many past pupils have gained entrance to some of the country's public schools including Eton College, Harrow School, St Paul's School and Westminster School. Westminster Abbey Choir School
Westminster Abbey Choir School is a boarding preparatory school for boys in Westminster, London and the only remaining choir school in the United Kingdom which exclusively educates choristers (i.e. only choirboys attend the school). It is located in Dean's Yard, by Westminster Abbey. It educates about 30 boys, aged 8–13 who sing in the Choir of Westminster Abbey, which takes part in state and national occasions as well as singing evensong every day (except Wednesday) and gives concert performances worldwide. Recent tours include to America, Hungary and Moscow. Other tours have included Australia, America and Hong Kong. Arnold House School is a preparatory school for boys in the St John's Wood district of Westminster, Greater London. It consists of a Junior School (Years 1-4) and Senior School (Years 5-8). History Arnold House School was founded in 1905 by Miss Hanson with nine pupils. Westminster Kingsway College is a large college for further education in central London with centres in King's Cross in Camden, together with Victoria and Soho centres in Westminster. Harris Westminster Sixth Form (also known as Harris Westminster or HWSF) is a selective sixth form in central London which was established with the goal of increasing the rate of entry to top universities among students from areas of socio-economic deprivation. The Fashion Retail Academy is a vocational training college in the Tottenham Court Road area of London, England. It was founded as a National Skills Academy in 2005 by M&S, Next, Experian, F&F and Arcadia, with funding from the UK government. Philip Green, chairman of the Arcadia Group, contributed between £5 million and £12 million. It opened in 2006 with about 200 students, and has since taught over 12,000 students. The Fashion Retail Academy trains people to work in head office roles within the fashion industry, working with over 140 UK brands and retailers to provide industry enrichment like work experience.
