Tangra, Kolkata
Tangra is a region in East Kolkata that traditionally housed many tanneries owned by people of Hakka Chinese origin. Overview "47 South Tangra Road", may be the most confusing postal address, as it used to cover the whole of Chinatown Tangra with over 350 tanneries. Most of the standing structures have been built, over many years, by the industrious Hakka Chinese, upon marshy and reclaimed low-lying land. Over the past several decades, it has served as the location of Calcutta's Chinatown. Elizabeth Street, Hobart
Elizabeth Street is the major street which runs southeast to northwest through the city and suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It was named by the Governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821, Lachlan Macquarie, after his wife Elizabeth Macquarie. It starts at Sullivans Cove and runs northwesterly through the CBD of Hobart and the North Hobart shopping district including the State Cinema, and changes to become New Town Road at the intersection with Augusta Road in New Town. The Elizabeth Street Pier extends into Sullivan's Cove (the Port of Hobart) from Franklin Wharf near the intersection with Elizabeth Street. Along the street are the General Post Office, the Hobart Bus Mall, the Elizabeth Street Mall, and Elizabeth College. Chinatown (; ) is an urban enclave situated in the southern part of the Sydney Central Business District, in New South Wales, Australia. It comprises the majority of the Haymarket suburb, between Central station and Darling Harbour. It is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney, and is Australia's largest Chinatown. Sydney, and the colony of New South Wales, experienced Chinese migration as early as 1828. The first group of Chinese labourers from Amoy (modern day Xiamen) embarked for New South Wales in 1848. With the discovery of gold in 1851 Chinese immigration increased, and by 1855 the number of Chinese immigrants reached around 17,000. Chinatown in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, also called Adelaide Chinatown or Moonta Street Chinatown, is located on Moonta Street, within the large Adelaide Central Markets precinct between Grote and Gouger streets in the Adelaide city centre. Caxton Street, Brisbane
Caxton Street is a street in the Brisbane suburb of Petrie Terrace in Queensland, Australia. It forms part of the Petrie Terrace Heritage Trail. History Named after merchant, writer and printer William Caxton, the thoroughfare developed considerably alongside the subdivision of land in the 1860s. The ensuing decades saw the construction of The Caxton Hotel (1864), the Baroona Oddfellows hall (1883) and the Prince Alfred Hotel (1887). An electric tramline was constructed between 1897 and 1898. The Ithaca Baths were constructed around 1905. In order to ease congestion, the street was grade-separated at its intersection with Hale Street in the 1960s. Acland Street is a street in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda, which enjoys great popularity as a recreational area, mainly due to its many restaurants and its proximity to the entertainment areas along St Kilda beach Acland Street runs on a north-west to south-east axis between Fitzroy and Barkly Streets.
