Gjakova
Gjakova, ) and Đakovica ( sr-Cyrl, Ђаковица, ) is the seventh largest city of Kosovo and seat of Gjakova Municipality and Gjakova District. The city has 40,827 inhabitants, while the municipality has 94,556 inhabitants. Geographically, it is located in the south-western part of Kosovo, about halfway between the cities of Peja and Prizren. It is approximately inland from the Adriatic Sea. The city is situated some north-east of Tirana, north-west of Skopje, west of the capital Pristina, south of Belgrade and east of Podgorica. The city of Gjakova has been populated since the prehistoric era. During the Ottoman period, Gjakova served as a trading centre on the route between Shkodra and Constantinople. It was also one of the most developed trade centres at that time in the Balkans. Flaka Krelani
Flaka Krelani (born 28 June 1989) is an Kosovo-Albanian singer. Music career Flaka started her career at "Ethet", a similar contest to Idols where she reached the final. After the show, she became one of the most popular Albanian rock singers. During the six-year period after Ethet, Flaka participated in various music festivals held in different Albanian territories. She participated in Top Fest, receiving "Best Alternative" in its 4th edition, and "Best Rock" in its eighth edition. She has tried to represent Albania in Eurovision four times. In 2008, she ranked second, and Top 5 in the two upcoming years. Ahmet Koronica
Ahmet Koronica (also known as Ahmet Gjakova) was an Albanian military commander and regional leader of the League of Prizren. In 1877 he joined the Central Committee for Defending Albanian Rights in Konstantiniyye. The organisation, whose aim was the defense and promotion of Albanian issues, in 1878 became the League of Prizren. As the treaties of the Congress of Berlin determined new frontiers that would allow the annexation of Albanian-inhabited territories of the Ottoman Empire by its neighbour states of the Balkans, the league called a general assembly in the city of Prizren. In the July 1878 assembly of the league, he was elected a deputy of Yakova, his home region, in the General Council of the organisation. In August of the same year the Ottoman representative in the congress of Berlin general Mehmed Ali Pasha headed to the Kosovo province to disband the league and normalize the transfer of the area of Plav to Montenegro. Ardian Kozniku (born 27 October 1967) is a Kosovan-Croatian professional football coach and former player who most recently was the assistant manager of Al Faisaly. Playing career Club He started his career at Vëllaznimi from Gjakova and was later picked up by Prishtina. He moved to Croatian side Hajduk Split in 1990 and played there until 1994, scoring 90 goals in 169 games in all competitions for them. He then went on to play for French clubs Cannes, Le Havre and Bastia, as well as Cypriot side APOEL, before making his comeback to Croatia in the summer of 1998, signing with Croatia Zagreb. Benet Kaci ( ; born 4 August 1978) is a Kosovan media personality, journalist, and occasional singer known for hosting talk shows since 2000. His career in show business began when he started working in RTK. His first television hosting job was on RTKSound, a music program. He would later present the "News Blic" before going to host Albanians Got Talent on Top Channel. For the last 3 years, Benet has been concentrating on his business career. He made his triumphant return to the stage of Video Fest 2013 in Pristina, Kosovo on 4 June 2013. He also hosted this event another time on 13 June 2014 in his birth town, Gjakova. Fadil Hoxha ( Serbian: Фадиљ Хоџа, ''Fadilj Hodža''; 15 March 1916 – 21 April 2001) was a Yugoslavian ethnic Albanian communist revolutionary and politician from Kosovo. He was a member of the Communist party and fought in the Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. After the war, he was the first President of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija (1945-1963) and later member of the Presidency of Yugoslavia (1974-1984). Besnik Ilmi Hasi (born 29 December 1971) is an Albanian professional football coach and former player who was most recently the manager of Saudi club Al-Ahli. Club career Born in Gjakova, SFR Yugoslavia (present day Kosovo), he began playing with his hometown team KF Vëllaznimi at an early age before joining KF Liria playing back then in the Yugoslav Second League where he began playing as a senior. Eros Genc Grezda (born 15 April 1995) is an Albanian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Turkish club Manisa and the Albania national team.
