Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh (, ) is a state in Northeastern India. It was formed from the erstwhile North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region, and became a state on 20 February 1987. It borders the states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. It shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east, and a disputed border with China in the north at the McMahon Line. Itanagar is the state capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Donyi-Polo
Donyi-Polo (also Donyi-Poloism) is the designation given to the indigenous religion, of animistic and shamanic type, of the Tani and other Tibeto-Burman peoples of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in Northeast India. The name "Donyi-Polo" means "Sun-Moon", and was chosen for the religion in the process of its revitalisation and institutionalisation. The Donyi- Poloism has been there from since immemorial. The religion has developed a congregational system; hymns to be sung, composed in the Tani ritual language of shamans; a formalised philosophy-theology; and an iconography of the gods and temples. The pioneer of the revival was Talom Rukbo. Donyi-Polo is related to the Hemphu-Mukrang religion of the Karbi and the Nyezi-No of the Hruso. Talom Rukbo
Talom Rukbo was the father of Donyi-Polo, a revivalist religious movement based in Arunachal Pradesh which attempts to reconstruct Tani (Adi) animist spirituality. He has criticized Christian missionaries for fraudulent conversion practices in the Northeast of India. Daying Ering
Daying Ering (1929–1970) was an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh. He was the chairman of the Ering Commission which heavily influenced the country's panchayati raj system. Biography Ering was born in an Adi family in Runne village near Pasighat in 1929. He started his career in the Indian Frontier Administrative Service. Later, in 1963, he was nominated as a Member of the Lok Sabha from NEFA by the President of India. He was later appointed as the Parliament Secretary and a Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. In 1964, he chaired the Ering Commission, an investigative body looking into governmental decentralization. The Commission's report, in 1965, recommended a four-tier system of local government, and heavily influenced the adoption of the Panchayati Raj system. Shakuntala Doley Gamlin is a 1984-batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram- Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre IAS officer. Jarbom Gamlin
Jarbom Gamlin (16 April 1961 – 30 November 2014) was an Indian politician and a leader of the Indian National Congress political party in Arunachal Pradesh and briefly served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Early life Gamlin was born in Along (now Aalo) in West Siang district to Sokjar Gamlin and Gamde Ete Gamlin. He studied in Sainik School, Goalpara in Assam and during 1976-77 he was the school captain. In 1982, he graduated in History from St. Stephen's College in Delhi and graduated in law from Campus Law Centre of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in 1984. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament.
