Abidin Dino
Abidin Dino (23 March 1913 – 7 December 1993) was a Turkish artist and a well-known painter. Early years Dino was born on 23 March 1913 in Istanbul into an art-loving family. He was grandchild of Abedin Dino, Albanian descended Ottoman diplomat. He started drawing and painting at a young age influenced by his family. As a child he lived in Geneva, Switzerland and France for several years with his parents, returning to Istanbul in 1925. Dino began his secondary education at the American highschool Robert College of Istanbul, but dropped out to devote himself to painting, drawing and writing. His articles and cartoons were soon being published in newspapers and magazines, and in 1933 he and five other young innovative painters founded the “ D Group”, which held several exhibitions of their work. Abdulcelil Levni
Levnî Abdülcelil Çelebi (1680s–1732) was an early 18th century Ottoman court painter under the Sultans Mustafa II and Ahmed III. He was a prominent Ottoman miniaturist during the Tulip Period, well-regarded for his traditional yet innovative style. Biography Levnî Abdülcelil Çelebi was born in Edirne and most likely belonged to a high class family in the empire because his title, Çelebi, means " gentleman". Levnî began his work in Istanbul during Sultan Mustafa II's rule and eventually became chief painter at the palace atelier. During his stay at the palace, he specialized in the Saz style, which is characterized by stylized leaf designs. In spite of his high artist status, his name does not appear on a lists of artists working for the palace during his time. Ömer Ali Kazma
Ali Kazma (born 1971) is a Turkish video artist, best known for his series documenting human activity, and labor that explores the meaning of production and social organisation. Early life and education He was born in Istanbul , Turkey. He graduated from Robert College in 1989. After briefly studying photography in London, he returned to the US to study film. Haydar Hatemi
Haydar Hatemi (born March 3, 1945 in Hadishahr) is an Iranian artist whose work is based on blends of classical oriental styles such as miniature and tazhib, with some modern elements. His early studies in art started at Tabriz's Art Academy after finishing high school in Tabriz, Iran. Hatemi is a graduate of the prestigious Fine Arts Academy of Tehran University. He moved to Turkey in 1983. He is one of the most significant artists of the Iranian diaspora. He has been working under the commission of the Qatari Royal family for the last decade. Osman Hamdi Bey
Osman Hamdi Bey (30 December 1842, in Istanbul 24 February 1910) was an Ottoman Empire, Ottoman administrator, intellectual, art expert and also a prominent and pioneering painter. He was also an accomplished archaeologist, and is regarded as the pioneer of the curator, museum curator's profession in Turkey. He was the founder of Istanbul Archaeology Museums and of the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts (:tr:Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi, Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi in Turkish language, Turkish), known today as the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Hatice Güleryüz (born February 18, 1968) is a contemporary Turkish artist. She has worked in video, film, photography, art books and drawing. Life and work Hatice Güleryüz was born in Denizli, Turkey. She has a bachelor's degree in fine art from Dokuz Eylül University, in İzmir, Turkey, and an MA from Plymouth University in England. Genco Gulan ( (born 1969 in Turkey) is a contemporary conceptual artist and theorist, who lives and works in Istanbul. His transmedia contextual work involves painting, found objects, new media, drawings, sculpture, photography, performance and video. His work often carries political, social and/or cultural messages. Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat
Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat (1 February 1923 in Malatya – 16 October 2014 in Ankara) was a Turkish composer, painter and poet. Fırat graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in law in 1948 and held a career as a judge until his retirement in 1979. All through his life, Fırat was involved in the arts: music, writing, painting.
