Roberto Jordán
Roberto Jordán () (born February 20, 1943, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico) is a popular singer whose heyday occurred during Mexico's '' nueva ola'' (new wave) of music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Many of his songs were covers of English-language rock and pop songs, with arrangements provided by music teachers and producers Enrique Okamura and Eduardo Magallanes. Jordán popularized several Bubblegum rock songs among youth in the Spanish-speaking world, singing songs by the 1910 Fruitgum Company, the Ohio Express and The Turtles as well as introducing the repertoire of singer-songwriters like Neil Diamond and Joe South. Jordán left the stage for a number of years to pursue business and sports. Discos Musart is a Mexican record label founded in 1948. It is headquartered in Mexico City and remains one of the country's biggest labels, focusing on Mexican music, as well as international releases licensed from various labels around the world. Over the years it has had several imprints such as Trebol, Oasis and Balboa Records. During the 1950s, Musart distributed albums by Cuban label Panart in Mexico. Until Capitol Records opened in Mexico in 1965, recordings by The Beatles were released by Musart Records in Mexico. Capitol re-releases now sometimes use completely different covers so detecting whether a Capitol version is actually an original Musart album or not can be difficult. Daniel Boone
Daniel Boone (September 26, 1820) was an American pioneer and frontiersman whose exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States. He became famous for his exploration and settlement of Kentucky, which was then beyond the western borders of the Thirteen Colonies. "Beautiful Sunday" is a song written by Daniel Boone and Rod McQueen (real name David Balfe), and performed by Daniel Boone. It appeared on his 1972 album ''Beautiful Sunday'' and was produced by Larry Page and arranged by Boone. It has been described as the biggest international hit in the British bubblegum pop genre. Peerless Records was a record label based in Mexico. Peerless was founded in 1921 in Mexico City by E. Baptista. Early pressings of their gramophone record were made under contract by Gennett Records. By 1933, Peerless was pressing its own records in Mexico. The Peerless label mostly released popular Mexican music; some popular dance bands and tunes from the United States of America also appeared on Peerless in the 1920s. Los Baby's
Los Baby's are a rock and ballad band from Yucatán, Mexico. Their native town of Panabá is close to Mérida, the state capital. History The group began performing together in 1958, at which time it was composed of the four Avila Aranda brothers. They debuted at the ''Fantasio'' theater in Mérida in 1960, then performed in Belize, where they took the name Los Baby's del Rock. They recorded their first sides for Discos Orfeón in 1959, but the label did not release them until 1962 once rock & roll began to become popular in Mexico. Víctor Yturbe
Víctor Yturbe (born Víctor Manuel De Anda Iturbe; May 8, 1936 – November 28, 1987) was a Mexican singer under the stage name " El Pirulí". Career Yturbe was born in Mexico City. In the 1960s, he made his first contact with the artistic world, working as an aquatic clown in a water skiing show in Acapulco. After a spinal injury, he stayed in the Hotel Posada Vallarta in March 1964 where he started to sing professionally in the hotel's bar. Out of this experience came his first compositions, and he soon recorded his first album, entitled ''"Noches en el Posada Vallarta"'', which included the popular track "Puerto Vallarta". His nickname "Pirulí" was because, due to his slim figure, he resembled a pirulí (a type of lollipop famous in Latin America). "Verónica" is a popular song written by Mexican songwriter Carlos Blanco and recorded by Mexican singer Víctor Yturbe "El Pirulí" in 1972. Upon its release, the song had great success in Mexico, where it topped the singles charts. Background and release The song was written by Carlos Blanco, a songwriter from the Mexican state of Puebla, and its original title was "''Güerita''" (which in Mexican slang is the diminutive form of "''güera''", a term that is used to describe a blonde or white-skinned woman). When Blanco showed Yturbe the song, the latter suggested changing its title so as to reference Verónica Castro, a famous Mexican actress; Blanco agreed to the change, and thus Yturbe recorded the song, which was released in 1972 as a single (with the song "''Miénteme''" as the B-side) as well as being included in Yturbe's studio album "''Condición''".
