The Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa (AFP; English: ''Portuguese Phonographic Association'') is the recording industry association of the major labels in Portugal. Created in 1989, it succeeded GPPFV (Portuguese group of producers of Phonograms and videograms) and UNEVA (Union of audio and video editors). The AFP is the Portuguese group of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The AFP gathers the main record publishers that operate in the Portuguese market and its affiliates represent more than 95% of the market. Paulo De Carvalho
Paulo de Carvalho (born Manuel Paulo de Carvalho Costa, in Lisbon, on 15 May 1947) is a Portuguese singer. Career Carvalho co-founded the band The Sheiks in 1965. He sang and played the drums. He also played an instrumental role, either as a founder or a guest, of many other important Portuguese bands of the 1960s, among them bands such as Fluido, Banda 4 and Thilo's Combo. The Sheiks was Portugals answer to the Beatles. During the 1960s Portugal was ruled by an authoritarian dictatorship. This band came as a result of the climate in Portugal and captured the national mood. The people wanted the brightness of the Beatles sound and the Sheiks provided. Os Quatro e Meia (loose translation: "The Four and A Half") are a band from Coimbra, Portugal. The band emerged in 2013, after a successful performance by a group of university students from Coimbra in a show to raise funds for a dance academy. The group is currently composed of six elements: João Cristóvão (violin and mandolin), Mário Ferreira (accordion and voice), Pedro Figueiredo (percussion), Ricardo Almeida (voice and guitar), Rui Marques (double bass) and Tiago Nogueira (voice and guitar).
