Land
Land, also known as dry land, ground, or earth, is the solid terrestrial surface of the planet Earth that is not submerged by the ocean or other bodies of water. It makes up 29% of Earth's surface and includes the continents and various islands. Earth's land surface is almost entirely covered by regolith, a layer of rock, soil, and minerals that forms the outer part of the crust. Land plays important roles in Earth's climate system and is involved in the carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and water cycle. One-third of land is covered in trees, 15% is used for crops, and 10% is covered in permanent snow and glaciers. Land terrain varies greatly and consists of mountains, deserts, plains, plateaus, glaciers, and other landforms. In physical geology, the land is divided into two major categories: mountain ranges and relatively flat interiors called cratons. Both are formed over millions of years through plate tectonics. A major part of Earth's water cycle, streams shape the lands ...

Draparnaudia Michaudi
''Draparnaudia'' is a genus of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Partuloidea. ''Draparnaudia'' is the only genus in the family Draparnaudiidae. Both the family name and the genus name of these snails were created to honor the 18th century French malacologist Jacques Philippe Raymond Draparnaud. Distribution This genus is endemic to New Caledonia, in Melanesia and - probably introduced - to Vanuatu. Taxonomy The family Draparnaudiidae is classified within the informal group Orthurethra, itself belonging to the clade Stylommatophora within the clade Eupulmonata (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). ''Draparnaudia'' is the type genus of the family Draparnaudiidae. Draparnaudiidae consists of one genus with six species:Tillier S. & Mordan P. B. (1995). Bradybaena Similaris
''Bradybaena similaris'', the Asian trampsnail, is a species of small, invasive land snail. It is a pulmonate gastropod terrestrial mollusc in the family Bradybaenidae. It earned the common name based on its origins, and its habit of roosting on freight containers . This habit means that this may be one of the most broadly-distributed species of terrestrial snail in the world. ''Bradybaena similaris'' is the type species of the genus '' Bradybaena''. Distribution This species is native to Southeast Asia, but it has been accidentally introduced to many areas around the world. The distribution includes: * Pratas Island, TaiwanWu S.-P., Hwang C.-C., Huang H.-M., Chang H.-W., Lin Y.-S. & Lee P.-F. (2007). "Land Molluscan Fauna of the Dongsha Island with Twenty New Recorded Species". ''Taiwania'' 52(2): 145-151PDF The introduced distribution includes states on the Gulf of Mexico, and it is widespread in Florida, USA. It has become widespread in Eastern Australia, usually living in ass ...

Camaenidae
Camaenidae is a family of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Helicoidea, the typical snails and their allies. This is one of the most diverse families in the clade Stylommatophora. These snails occur in a wide variety of habitats in the tropics of Eastern Asia and Australasia. A large American group, which is mainly represented by species from the Caribbean, has, until recently, also been subsumed under the Camaenidae. However, latest molecular phylogenetic studies showed that these species represent a different family, the Pleurodontidae. This molecular study also implies that the Bradybaeninae, previously being treated as a distinct family within the Helicoidea, is a junior synonym of the Camaenidae. Anatomy Camaenid shells are often quite large (25–50 mm), but a number of species also have small shells (<5 mm). Shells reveal a remarkable diversity in shape and colour, which is partly linked with their ...
