There is usually a fair degree of accuracy about a start date, but because of rights being transferred or the very gradual loss of appeal of a particular strip, the termination date is sometimes uncertain. In the event a strip has its own page, the originator of the strip is listed. Otherwise, all creators who worked on a strip are listed. Many of characters appeared in both strip and comic book format as well as in other media. The word Reuben after a name identifies winners of the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year, but many of leading strip artists worked in the years before the first Reuben and Billy DeBeck Awards in 1946. 	Andrew Feinstein (cartoonist) Andrew Josef Feinstein (born 16 March 1964) is a South African former politician, activist, filmmaker and author. After the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994, Feinstein was a member of parliament from 1994 to 2001 as a member of the ruling ANC party. In 2001, as a sign of protest against the ANC's refusal to investigate a £5 billion arms deal that was accused of large-scale corruption, he resigned from his seat and moved to London, where he works as political scientist, author and filmmaker. 	Girls & Sports ''Girls & Sports'' was an American comic strip written and illustrated by Justin Borus and Andrew Feinstein. It was created in 1997 and published in various college newspapers until 2004 when Borus and Feinstein began self-syndicating the strip. It was picked up for distributed by Creators Syndicate at the beginning of 2006, and was discontinued in 2011. History Borus and Feinstein created ''Girls & Sports'' in 1997 while studying abroad in Denmark. The strips were based on their own dating experiences. When they returned to the United States, they began publishing their comic in their college newspapers. After college, Borus and Feinstein began marketing the comic to mainstream newspapers, which became the most widely syndicated independent comic strip in the country. 	Ginger Meggs ''Ginger Meggs'', Australia's most popular and longest-running comic strip, was created in the early 1920s by Jimmy Bancks. The strip follows the escapades of a red-haired prepubescent mischief-maker who lives in an inner suburban working-class household. While employed at ''The Bulletin'', Bancks submitted cartoons to the ''Sydney Sunday Sun'', where he began his ''Us Fellers'' strip in 1921 in the "Sunbeams" section of the ''Sunday Sun''. Ginger first appeared in ''Us Fellers'' on 13 November 1921, drawn by Bancks. 	Gil Thorp ''Gil Thorp'' is a sports-oriented comic strip which has been published since September 8, 1958. The main character, Gil Thorp, is the athletic director of Milford High School and coaches the football, basketball, and baseball teams. In addition to the sports storylines, the strip also deals with issues facing teenagers such as teen pregnancy, steroids, and drug abuse. History The strip was created by Jack Berrill, who modeled and named Thorp after baseball player Gil Hodges and Olympic athlete Jim Thorpe. The setting of Milford is named for New Milford, Connecticut when he began writing the strip. Berrill continued the strip until he died of cancer on March 14, 1996. Over the course of his 38 years, Berrill broke ground with many of his stories, often dealing with sensitive social issues of the day.
