Museo Del Hombre Y La Tecnología
Museo del Hombre y la Tecnología (Museum of Man and Technology) is located in Salto Department, Uruguay. Its exhibitions are devoted to demonstrating how the evolution of technology has influenced the lives of the people of Uruguay and the rest of the world. The museum is housed in the old Central Market in a building constructed built between 1909 and 1915. Its rooms have interactive exhibits dedicated to the evolution of technology in the region. There are eleven rooms and a central area. The museum's director since 2010 is Professor Mario Trindade. The Colonel Jaime Meregalli Aeronautical Museum in an aviation museum located in Ciudad de la Costa, Canelones. History Originating from an exhibition at Cap. Juan Manuel Boiso Lanza Air Base, Capitan Boiso Lanza Air Base, the museum was founded on 8 August 1954 by Colonel (Av.) Jaime Meregalli. The museum was moved a number of times in its early years, first to Carrasco International Airport#Air Brigade I, Air Base No. 1 in Carrasco, Montevideo, Carrasco and shortly thereafter to the Cilindro Municipal in downtown Montevideo. It became the Colonel Jaime Meregalli Aeronautical Museum on 17 March 1993. On 4 December 1997, the museum suffered a fire which damaged a number of aircraft in the collection. Juan Manuel Blanes Municipal Museum of the Arts ( es, Museo de Bellas Artes Juan Manuel Blanes) is a museum in Prado, Montevideo, Uruguay. Location and history The Juan Manuel Blanes Municipal Museum of the Arts is located at Avenida Millan 4015, in the neighbourhood of Prado, Montevideo, in a Palladian villa designated a National Heritage Site in 1975. The villa was originally designed in 1870 by Juan Alberto Capurro, an engineer trained at the Turin Polytechnic, for the then-owner Dr. Juan Battista Raffo. The surrounding garden reveals elements of French landscape design. The municipality acquired the villa in 1929, when it commissioned the architect Eugenio Baroffio to renovate and expand the building. Baroffio maintained the eclecticism of the original design, leaving the facade intact. The museum was founded in 1930, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay, and named after the patriotic Uruguayan artist, Juan Manuel Blanes. Palacio Taranco
Palacio Taranco, located in front of the Plaza Zabala, in the heart of the Old City of Montevideo, Uruguay, is a palace erected in the early 20th century during a period in which the architectural style was influenced by French architecture. It was designed by French architects Charles Louis Girault and Jules Chifflot León, who also designed the Petit Palais and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This building contains European furniture and drapings and currently contains the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montevideo. The palace is often used as a meeting place by the Uruguayan government. The palace was erected on the site of Montevideo's first theatre in the historical centre of the city which had been built in 1793. The Taranco Ortiz family commissioned the construction of the building in 1907 and it was completed in 1910.
