Andean Sanctuaries Museum
The Andean Sanctuaries Museum ( Spanish: Museo Santuarios Andinos) is an archaeological museum in Arequipa, Peru. History The museum was founded in 1996 by resolution N° 3966-R-97, the creation of this museum was to conserve the archaeological artifacts of the project Santuarios de Altura del Sur Andino, this project began in 1980 by the archaeologists José Chavéz and Johan Reinhard in the mountains of southern Peru. In March 2020, two archaeologists from the Catholic University of Santa María conducted an analysis of the museum's textiles. In November 2020, the museum was declared a National Cultural Heritage Site by the Ministry of Culture. Collections The museum contains the Juanita mummy, a mummy that was found in the Ampato volcano after an expedition in 1995 by archeologists José Chavez and Johan Reinhard. Museum Of Italian Art
The Museum of Italian Art (Spanish: Museo de Arte italiano) is a public museum in Lima, Peru, under the administration of the National Culture Institute. It's the only European arts museum in Peru. History The Museum of Italian Art was the gift from the Italian community in Peru, for the 100th Anniversary of the Independence, in 1921. Its official inauguration occurred on November 11, 1923. After many years working, the museum passed to be administrated by the National Culture Institute in 1972. The institution received donations from contemporary Italian artists, and the permanent collection was increased with another 35 art works, in 1989 and 1990. Since 1991, major efforts have been made to recover the museum itself -building and collection- and to revalue it. Zela House
Zela House ( es, Casa Zela), also called Zela City Museum ( es, Casa Museo Zela), is a museum located at San Martín Avenue, in the historic centre of Tacna, Peru. The building is a former residence of Francisco Antonio de Zela, who participated in the 1811 Tacna rebellion, an important episode preceding the Peruvian War of Independence. History On June 20, 1811, Tacna was the scene of the first cry of Independence of Peru. Francisco Antonio de Zela, an important precursor of Peruvian independence, once lived in this property. The house, located in block No. 5 of Zela Street, was declared a Historical Monument on June 20, 1961 by Resolution No. 243. National Railway Museum (Peru)
The National Railway Museum of Peru is located in Tacna, Peru. The museum was built at the site of the old Tacna-Arica railway station, which connected the two cities. The museum features many preserved elements used during the second half of the nineteenth century before it was destroyed. The exhibition presents a history of the railway and its functions. The Museum is located at the Tacna-Arica Railway Station, at Av. Gregorio Albarracín 402, at the intersection with Av. 2 de Mayo, Tacna. The train service began in 1856 and the station was built in 1855 according to a design by Walter Evans. It was declared a Historic Monument in 1980. The arch with bell tower is very characteristic. The old station is still largely preserved in its original state with many elements from the second half of the 19th century, when it was built. Courthouse, Tacna
The Tacna Courthouse (''Casa Jurídica'') is located in the city of Tacna in Peru. The building played an important role in transferring the town from Chile to Peru in 1929. History The building was built in 1902 to a design by the Italian architect Alberto Figini. In 1926 the town was part of Chile, but this building was purchased by the Peruvian government to house the administration required to allow the town to prepare to become part of Peru. The National Afro-Peruvian Museum is a museum dedicated to the acquisition, preservation and exhibition of objects related to the history of African descendants in Peru. Its headquarters is located in the House of the Thirteen Coins located on Ancash Street in the historic centre of Lima. It was inaugurated on 4 June 2009. The museum has nine permanent exhibition halls, the main exhibits showing the beginnings of trade in African slaves in Latin America, as well as the slave trade in Peru.
