This is a list of mountains of the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The canton of St. Gallen is partially located in the Alps and is one of the nine cantons having summits over 3,000 metres. Topographically, the two most important summits of the canton are those of the Ringelspitz (most elevated and isolated) and the Säntis (most prominent). This list only includes significant summits with a topographic prominence of at least . Ringelspitz
The Ringelspitz (also known as ''Piz Barghis'') is a mountain of the Glarus Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden. Reaching a height of 3,248 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit in the canton of St. Gallen. It is split between three municipalities: Pfäfers (St. Gallen), Trin and Tamins (Graubünden). The Ringelspitz is the culminating point of a range, about 12 kilometres long, running from west to east and diverging from the main chain of the Glarus Alp between Piz Sardona and Piz Segnas. The massif separates the Calfeisen valley in canton St. Gallen from the Rhine valley near Flims. The north side of the mountain consists of nearly 2,000 metre-high precipitous cliffs overlooking the Gigerwaldsee (1,335 m). Piz Dolf
Piz Dolf ( Romansh) or Trinserhorn (German) is a mountain of the Glarus Alps, located on the border between the cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden. Piz Sardona is to the north across a glacier, and to its west Piz Segnas. Both Piz Segnas and Piz Dolf show the line of the ''Glarus thrust'' in its upper part. The easiest access to the area is an aerial cableway to Fil de Cassons from Flims Flims ( rm, Flem) is a municipality in the Imboden Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. See-Gaster (Wahlkreis)
See-Gaster is a constituency (''Wahlkreis'') in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The Wahlkreis (Community Identification Number#Switzerland, SFOS number 1726) has been established on June 10, 2001, with an area of . It was formed from the former ''See'' and ''Gaster'' districts in 2001. History The name ''Gaster'' is from Latin ''castrum'' "castle"; a it is first recorded in 1230. The Gaster districts corresponded to the historical county of Windegg. The ''See'' district corresponded to the historical counties of Rapperswil and Uznach. Speer (mountain)
The Speer (1,951 m) is a mountain in the Appenzell Alps, overlooking the region between Lake Zurich and Lake Walenstadt in the canton of St. Gallen. Hinterrugg
The Hinterrugg (or Hinderrugg) is the highest peak of the Churfirsten group, located in the Appenzell Alps. It overlooks the town of Walenstadt and the lake in the canton of St. Gallen. The summit is easily accessible via the Chäserrugg cable car station (2,262 metres), above Unterwasser in Toggenburg. Gamsberg
The Gamsberg is a mountain in the Appenzell Alps, overlooking the region of Walenstadt in the canton of St. Gallen. Located in the Alvier group it is the culminating point of the range lying between Lake Walenstadt and Toggenburg. The summit is relatively difficult to access. There is no trail leading to the top. The Altmann is a mountain in the Appenzell Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and St. Gallen. It is situated in the massif of the Alpstein north of Wildhaus (St. Gallen), a few kilometres from the Säntis At above sea level, Säntis is the highest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. Toggenburg (district)
Toggenburg is a region of Switzerland. It corresponds to the upper valley of the river Thur and that of its main tributary, the Necker. Since 1 January 2003, Toggenburg has been a constituency (''Wahlkreis'') of the canton of St. Gallen ( SFOS number 1727). Geography The valley descends in a northwestern direction from the watershed between the Rhine and the Thur, and is enclosed on the northeast by the chain of the Säntis () and on the southwest by that of the Churfirsten () and of the Speer (). It is a fertile valley of about in length from the source of the river to Wil.
