This is a list of mountains of the Swiss canton of Ticino. Ticino is a very mountainous canton and lies almost entirely within the Alps. It is also one of the nine cantons having summits above 3,000 metres. Topographically, the two most important summits of the canton are those of the Rheinwaldhorn (most elevated and isolated) and Monte Tamaro (most prominent). This list only includes significant summits with a topographic prominence of at least . The Vallemaggia District is a district of the cantons of Switzerland, canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It has a population of (as of ). The capital of the district is Cevio. Geography The Vallemaggia District has an area, , of . Of this area, or 1.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 42.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 1.2% is settled (buildings or roads), or 2.7% is either rivers or lakes and or 42.9% is unproductive land. Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 0.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 0.4%. Out of the forested land, 31.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 4.8% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 1.1% is used for growing crops. Piz Terri
Piz Terri is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden. At 3,149 metres above sea level it is the highest summit lying on the chain between Greina and Soreda Pass. Piz Terri overlooks Lake Luzzone in Val Blenio on its west side, Val Sumvitg on its north side and Lumnezia on its east side. Close localities are Olivone (Val Blenio) and Vrin (Lumnezia). The lake named ''Laghet la Greina'' (0.183 km²Area retrieved from Google Earth (July 2013)) is located not far from the summit, on the northwest side of the mountain, at an elevation of 2,585 metres. The faces are steep. Only a small glacier, named ''Glatscher dil Terri'', lies at the base of the north face. It previously extended down to the lake. Cima Rossa
Cima Rossa is a 3,161 metres high mountain in the Lepontine Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden. On the west side it overlooks the valley of Malvaglia (Ticino) and on the east side it overlooks the valley of Calanca (Graubünden). Cima Rossa is connected to the higher massif of the Vogelberg by a four km ridge, not descending lower than 2,925 metres. Scopi
The Scopi is a 3,190-metre-high mountain in the Lepontine Alps, overlooking Lukmanier Pass on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden. A cable car (not accessible to public) connects the summit from the road of Lukmanier Pass below the dam, and on the top lies a radar (FLORAKO) and an air traffic control building, owned by the Swiss Army. Leventina (district)
The Leventina District is one of the eight districts of the largely Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The capital of the district is Faido but the largest town is Airolo on the southern flank of the Gotthard Pass. Situated to the north of the canton, its territory covers the area of the Ticino River as far south as Biasca, in particular the Bedretto Valley and the Leventina Valley. Pizzo Rotondo
Pizzo Rotondo is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps. At 3,190 metres above sea level, it is the highest mountain lying on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Valais, as well as the highest summit of the Lepontine Alps lying between Nufenen Pass and Lukmanier Pass. The massif of Piz Rotondo separates the valleys of the upper Rhone (Valais) and upper Ticino. About two kilometres north-east lies the Witenwasserenstock, which is the watershed between the basins of the Rhone, Po and Rhine. On the north side lies a relatively large glacier named ''Gerengletscher'', which extends to the ridge of the Witenwasserenstock. On the south side, at Passo di Rotondo, lies a smaller glacier named ''Ghiacciaio del Pizzo Rotondo''.
