Sarawat
The Sarawat Mountains ( ar, جِبَالُ ٱلسَّرَوَاتِ, Jibāl as-Sarawāt), also known as the Sarat, is a part of the Hijaz mountains in the western part of the Arabian Peninsula. In a broad sense, it runs parallel to the Tihamah, eastern coast of the Red Sea, and thus encompasses the mountains of Fifa Mountains, Fifa', Asir Mountains, 'Asir and Taif (which can be seen as including the Midian Mountains). In a narrow sense, the Sarawat start in Taif city in Saudi Arabia, and extend to the Gulf of Aden in the south, running along the entire western coast of Yemen, in what used to be Yemen Arab Republic, North Yemen, and extend eastwards into part of what used to be South Yemen, thus running parallel to the Gulf of Aden. Al-Namas ( ar, النماص) is a governorate in 'Asir Province, Saudi Arabia about north of Abha. Al-Namas is a famous hill station located on Sarawat Mountains. Jabal Mareer ( ar, جبل مرير) is a mountain of the Sarwat Mountains in the Arabian Peninsula and is located in the village of Al Qahtan about 15 kilometers north of Al-Namas in the Asir region. It is the highest peak in the so-called "Bitter Mountains," named because of their difficult ascent. Dhahran ( ar, الظهران, ''Al-Dhahran'') is a city located in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. With a total population of 240,742 as of 2021, it is a major administrative center for the Saudi oil industry. Together with the nearby cities of Dammam and Khobar, Dhahran forms part of the Dammam Metropolitan Area, which is commonly known as greater Dammam and has an estimated population of 4,140,000 as of 2012.
