Although there is no universally agreed definition, this list treats a mountain as an elevation of 2000 feet (612 m) or higher. Landkreis Trier-Saarburg
Trier-Saarburg (; lb, Landkrees Tréier-Saarburg ) is a district in the west of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the north and clockwise) Bitburg-Prüm, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Birkenfeld, Sankt Wendel (Saarland), and Merzig-Wadern (Saarland). To the west it borders Luxembourg. The district-free city Trier is surrounded by the district. History The district was created in 1969 by merging the previous districts Trier and Saarburg. Geography The main river in the district is the Moselle. The area between its tributaries, the Ruwer and the Saar, is also well known as one of the prime wine regions of Germany. Osburger Hochwald
The Osburger Hochwald ("Osburg Upland Forest") lies southeast of the Osburger Hunsrück and has an area of 75 square kilometres. Together with the Schwarzwälder Hochwald, it forms the ''Hochwald'' or "upland forest" of the Hunsrück, the southwestern part of the Rhenish Massif in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The area belongs to the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. Northeast of the Hochwald are the Idar Forest and Soonwald. At the foot of the Rösterkopf rises the River Ruwer, a right tributary of the Moselle. Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz
Mayen-Koblenz is a district (''Kreis'') in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Ahrweiler, Neuwied, Westerwaldkreis, district-free Koblenz, Rhein-Lahn, Rhein-Hunsrück, Cochem-Zell, and Vulkaneifel. History The district was created in 1973 when the two districts, Mayen and Koblenz, were merged. The district has been 'twinned' with the Borough of Waverley in Surrey in southern England since 1982. Geography The two main rivers of the district are the Rhine and the Moselle, which join at the ''Deutsches Eck'' in Koblenz. In the west of the district are the Eifel mountains. Ahrweiler () is a district in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Euskirchen (district), Euskirchen, Rhein-Sieg and the city of Bonn in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the districts of Neuwied (district), Neuwied, Mayen-Koblenz and Vulkaneifel. High Eifel
The High Eifel (german: Hocheifel (Ost) or ''Hohe Eifel'') forms part of the Eifel Mountains in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The landscape here between Adenau, Mendig and Daun rises to a height of 747 m. The region is not to be confused with the western ''Hocheifel'', better known as the Schnee Eifel. Nürburg Castle and the famous Nürburgring racing track are located in the northwest of the area. Climate Despite being between 600 m and 700 m high the High Eifel lies in the rain shadow of the Schneifel to the west. Its annual precipitation lies between 800 mm and 1000 mm. The Eifel (; lb, Äifel, ) is a low mountain range in western Germany and eastern Belgium. It occupies parts of southwestern North Rhine-Westphalia, northwestern Rhineland-Palatinate and the southern area of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. The Hohe Acht () is the highest mountain ( ) in the Eifel mountains of Germany.
