Stortinget
The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". The assembly is led by a president and, since 2009, five vice presidents: the presidium. The members are allocated to twelve standing committees as well as four procedural committees. Three ombudsmen are directly subordinate to parliament: the Parliamentary Intelligence Oversight Committee and the Office of the Auditor General. Sigurd Manneråk (28 August 1942 – 5 April 2003) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. He was born in Marnardal. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Vest-Agder in 1993, but was not re-elected in 1997. Manneråk was a member of Kvinesdal Kvinesdal is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. Paul Chaffey
Paul André Chaffey (born 10 July 1965) is a Norwegian businessperson and politician, who represented the Socialist Left Party until 1997. He is now State Secretary to Minister of Local Government Jan Tore Sanner, and a supporter of the Conservative Party since 2000. He was born in Oslo as a son of university lecturer Patrick Nigel Chaffey (1938–2006) and advisor Arnhild Mæhle (born 1945). He grew up in Bærum, and finished secondary school at Valler Upper Secondary School in 1984. At the University of Oslo he minored in political science in 1985–1986 before minoring in history in 1988–1989. He became involved in the Socialist Youth at a young age, and worked as their county secretary in Oslo from 1984 to 1985. Fridtjof Frank Gundersen
Fridtjof Frank Gundersen (29 October 1934 – 11 November 2011) was a Norwegian professor of jurisprudence and politician. He worked as a lector at the Faculty of Law of the University of Oslo from 1965 to 1975. In 1975 he became professor of jurisprudence at the Norwegian School of Economics. Gundersen was elected a Member of Parliament in 1981 representing the Progress Party platform, but did not formally join the party until 1990. He fell out of parliament in 1985, but was re-elected for three consecutive four-year terms from 1989. He left the party in 2001, and failed to get re-elected to parliament again in the election later the same year, having stood for a local electoral list. Jan Petersen (born 11 June 1946, in Oslo) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. Petersen was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Akershus in 1981, and was re-elected on six occasions. He had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 1973–1977. From 2001 to 2005, when the second cabinet Bondevik held office, Petersen was Minister of Foreign Affairs. During this period his seat in parliament was held by André Oktay Dahl. On the local level Petersen was a member of Oppegård municipal council from 1967 to 1983, serving as mayor from 1975 to 1981. He chaired the Conservative Party from 1994 to 2004. Solveig Torsvik (born 30 December 1954 in Stange, Norway) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. Torsvik was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Akershus in 1993, but was not re-elected in 1997. She had previously served in the position of deputy representative during the term 1981–1985, 1985–1989 and 1989–1993.
