Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Early mathcore lyrics were addressed from a realistic worldview and with a pessimistic, defiant, resentful or sarcastic point of view. In the 1990s, the hardcore punk scene started to embrace extreme metal openly. It also started to become highly ideological, with most of the popular bands being part of subcultures. This led to bands such as Converge, Botch, Coalesce and The Dillinger Escape Plan to establish the genre. Benea Reach
Benea Reach was a Norwegian progressive metal band based in Oslo. The band was nominated for a Spellemannsprisen Award in the metal category, and at one time included noted guitarist Christer Espevoll of progressive metal band Extol. History Benea Reach was formed on 22 March 2003 by drummer Marco Storm and vocalist Ilkka Volume of Selfmindead fame. They were joined by Morten (bass guitar), Tor (guitar), Erik (guitar), and Anders (Digital Audio). This original incarnation of the band only lasted for a year and disbanded. During this time a live demo EP had been recorded. In 2004 the pair gathered four new members, most notably Christer Espevoll, formerly of Extol. The band recorded a demo of the song "Pandemonium", which was distributed among different record labels. Car Bomb (band)
Car Bomb (stylized as ar_Bomb'') is an American mathcore band from Long Island, New York, United States, that was initially formed in 2000. Their debut album, ''Centralia'', was released through Relapse Records on February 6, 2007. Car Bomb's style inspired later mathcore bands. Biography Car Bomb first came to be around the year 2000, when Bushwick residents Greg Kubacki and Michael Dafferner of the band Neck shared a rehearsal space under a Rockville Center, New York butcher with Elliot Hoffman and Jon Modell of the band Spooge. Over time, the bands became great friends and frequently visited each other's practices. In 2002, Modell, previously a touring bassist for Soilent Green, unsatisfied with the music his band was making, recruited Kubacki and Dafferner to form a side project called Car Bomb. The Callous Daoboys
The Callous Daoboys are an American mathcore band from Atlanta, Georgia. Their name is a play on words, based on the Dallas Cowboys football team. History ''My Dixie Wrecked'' and ''Animal Tetris'' (2016–2017) The Callous Daoboys released their debut EP, titled ''My Dixie Wrecked'', on April 1, 2017. On December 1 of that same year, the band released their second EP, ''Animal Tetris''. This was the last release to contain the band's original lineup. ''Die on Mars'' (2018–2022) In early 2018, drummer Alex Jerral and bassist Claire Darling left the band; Sam Williamson joined as the band's new drummer, and Jackie Buckalew as the bassist. Burnt By The Sun (band)
Burnt by the Sun was an American band from New Jersey. Formed in November 1999 by ex- Human-Remains-drummer Dave Witte and guitarist John Adubato. ex-For the Love of... vocalist Mike Olender and bassist Ted Patterson joined soon after. A split EP with The Luddite Clone on Ferret Records brought them to the attention of metal-specialized Relapse Records. Impressed by the band's inventive, often humorous take on the metalcore genre, Relapse quickly signed the band, releasing a self-titled EP. Their full-length debut, ''Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution'' (featuring second guitarist Chris Rascio), was released on January 22, 2002, followed by ''The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good'' which was released on October 7, 2003. Bring Me the Horizon (often abbreviated as BMTH) are a British rock band formed in Sheffield in 2004. The group consists of lead vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish. Botch (band)
Botch is an American mathcore band formed in 1993 in Tacoma, Washington. The band, featuring Brian Cook, Dave Knudson, Tim Latona and Dave Verellen, spent four years as a garage band and released several demos and EPs before signing to Hydra Head Records. Through the label, Botch released two studio albums: '' American Nervoso'' (1998) and '' We Are the Romans'' (1999). The group toured extensively and internationally in support of their albums with like-minded bands such as The Blood Brothers, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ink & Dagger and Jesuit. Botch struggled to write a third studio album, and in 2002 the group broke up due to tensions among the band members and creative differences. Blood Has Been Shed was an American metalcore band based in Granby, Connecticut. The band came together in 1997 and has featured members of Killswitch Engage, Diecast, Light the Torch, Red Tide, Terror, Walls of Jericho, Bury Your Dead and The Acacia Strain. Blood Has Been Shed has released three full-length albums—''I Dwell on Thoughts of You'' (1998), ''Novella of Uriel'' (2001) and ''Spirals'' (2003)—and was signed to Ferret Music and Roadrunner Records. The band was a frequent performer at metal festivals Hellfest and the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. The Bled
The Bled was an American post-hardcore band from Tucson, Arizona, formed in 2001. They released four albums (''Pass the Flask'', ''Found in the Flood'', ''Silent Treatment (The Bled album), Silent Treatment'' and ''Heat Fetish'') before disbanding in 2012.
