Kasatochi Island, Alaska Maritime NWR
Kasatochi Island ( ale, Qanan-tanax̂; russian: Касаточий остров), also known as Kasatochi volcano, is an active stratovolcano and part of the Andreanof Islands subgroup of the Aleutian Islands of southwestern Alaska. On 7 August 2008, Kasatochi began erupting explosively with an ash plume reaching 45,000 feet. The eruption lasted for 24 hours and destroyed most life on the island. It currently does not support any consistent human population. Grindall Island State Marine Park
Grindall Island is an island in the Grindall Island State Marine Park west of Ketchikan, Alaska, United States. The island is in a remote area, only accessible by boat or plane. Captain George Vancouver named the nearby Grindall Point and Grindall Passage after his former sailing companion, the late Vice Admiral Sir Richard Grindall. The state of Alaska later named Grindall Island in line with the point and passage. Geography Grindall Island is located in Clarence Strait off Grindall Point on the east side of Prince of Wales Island west of Ketchikan. Entry Cove State Marine Park is a state marine park in the U.S. state of Alaska. The park is two miles directly east of Decision Point on the northeast corner where Passage Canal and Port Wells meet. Edgecumbe is a town in the Bay of Plenty of the North Island of New Zealand, 15 kilometres to the west of Whakatāne and eight kilometres south of the Bay's coast. It is the main service town for the agricultural region surrounding the plains of the Rangitaiki River, which flows through the town.
