Replicas Of The Jewish Temple
Replicas of the Jewish Temple are scale models or authentic buildings that attempt to replicate the Temple of Solomon, Second Temple and Herod's Temple in Jerusalem. Scale models In the seventeenth century, Rabbi Jacob Judah Leon of Amsterdam (1602–1675) built a widely exhibited model of the Temple based on his understanding of the biblical specifications. Another notable model was constructed by Gerhard Schott (1641–1702), follows an interpretation made by the Spanish Jesuit Juan Bautista Villalpando. Schott's model, known as the Hamburg temple model, is still displayed in the Hamburg Museum in Hamburg. Conrad Schick constructed a series of replicas of the Jewish Temple. His replica of the Biblical Tabernacle was visited in Jerusalem by several crowned heads of state, toured the United Kingdom, and was exhibited at the 1873 Vienna World's Fair. It was purchased by the King of Württemberg, who awarded Schick a knighthood in recognition of his work. Schick built a repli ...

Replicas Of Michelangelo's David
Replicas of Michelangelo's ''David'' have been made numerous times, in plaster, imitation marble, fibreglass, snow, and other materials. There are many full-sized replicas of the statue around the world, perhaps the most prominent being the one in the original's position in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, placed there in 1910. The original sculpture was moved indoors in 1873 to the Accademia Gallery in Florence, where it attracts many visitors. Others were made for study at art academies in the late nineteenth century and later, while the statue has also been replicated for various commercial reasons or as artistic statements in their own right. Smaller replicas are often considered kitsch. Europe * The bronze cast of ''David'' in Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence, is flanked by casts of the reclining figures in the Medici Chapel. * A plaster cast copy in the Cast Courts at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London was intended for the education of art students, and ...

Mona Lisa Replicas And Reinterpretations
Leonardo da Vinci's '' Mona Lisa'' is one of the most recognizable and famous works of art in the world, and also one of the most replicated and reinterpreted. ''Mona Lisa'' replicas were already being painted during Leonardo's lifetime by his own students and contemporaries. Some are claimed to be the work of Leonardo himself, and remain disputed by scholars. Prominent 20th-century artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Salvador Dalí have also produced derivative works, manipulating ''Mona Lisa'' image to suit their own aesthetic. Replicating Renaissance masterpieces continues to be a way for aspiring artists to perfect their painting techniques and prove their skills. Contemporary ''Mona Lisa'' replicas are often created in conjunction with events or exhibitions related to Leonardo da Vinci, for publicity. Her portrait, public domain and outside of copyright protection, has also been used to make political statements. Aside from countless print-reproductions of Leonardo's ...

List Of Replicas Of Noah's Ark
Numerous interpretations of Noah's Ark have been built and proposed. Some were intended to be replicas, as close as possible to the Biblical Ark, the builders assuming that such a boat did exist and that it is not a mythological vessel. Others are looser derivatives which were inspired by the idea. The Biblical description of the Ark is brief, beyond the basic measures of length, height and width, and the exact design of any "replica" must largely be a matter of conjecture. Some interpret the Ark as simply a chest-like structure with rectangular sides; other reconstructions (like Ark Encounter) give it a rounded bow and stern. Full-scale The Bible gives the length of the ark as 300 cubits. Various cubits were in use in antiquity, but to be considered "full-scale", an Ark replica would have to be somewhere in the range from about 135 to upward of 150 meters long (ca. 440 to 500+ feet). * Johan's Ark in Dordrecht, Netherlands. 137 meters (450 ft) long and carried on a platf ...

France Paris Musée d'Orsay On the occasion of the Exposition Universelle of 1900, sculptor Frédéric Bartholdi crafted a 1/16 scale, 2.743 metre (nine-foot) version of his ''Liberty Enlightening the World.'' It was cast in 1889 and he subsequently gave it to the Musée du Luxembourg. In 1905, the statue was placed outside the museum in the Jardin du Luxembourg, where it stood for over a century, until 2014. It currently stands within the entrance hall to the Musée d'Orsay, and a newly constructed bronze replica stands in its place in the Jardin du Luxembourg.
