Gdańsk Port Północny Lighthouse
Gdańsk Port Północny Lighthouse (''Gdańsk North Port Lighthouse'') is a lighthouse in Gdańsk, located on the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea, by the Bay of Gdańsk. It is the youngest lighthouse in Poland; located between the lighthouse in Hel, and the lighthouse in Krynica Morska. The lighthouse houses the admiralty of the Port of Gdańsk and is not open for the public. The lighthouse is the only lighthouse in Poland to have a lift to get to the top command deck. Kołobrzeg Lighthouse
Kołobrzeg Lighthouse (Polish: ''Latarnia morska Kołobrzeg'') is a lighthouse in Kołobrzeg on the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea. The lighthouse in located in Kołobrzeg, West Pomeranian Voivodeship; in Poland. The lighthouse is located in between the lighthouse in Niechorze (about 34 km to the west) and the lighthouse in Gąski (22 km to the east). History The lighthouse is located at the entrance to the port of Kołobrzeg, it stands on the right bank of the river Parsęta. The history of the Kołobrzeg Lighthouse dates back to 1666. In World War II the lighthouse was blown up by German engineers as it was a good look-out point for the Polish artillery in March 1945. After the Second World War the lighthouse was built at a slightly different location from the original, using the foundations of the fort buildings complex; located close by to the town. Wolin
Wolin (; formerly german: Wollin ) is the name both of a Polish island in the Baltic Sea, just off the Polish coast, and a town on that island. Administratively, the island belongs to the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Wolin is separated from the island of Usedom (Uznam) by the Strait of Świna, and from mainland Pomerania by the Strait of Dziwna. The island has an area of and its highest point is Mount Grzywacz at 116 m above sea level. The number of inhabitants is 30,000. Water from the river Oder flows into the Szczecin Lagoon and from there through the Peene west of Usedom, Świna and Dziwna into the Bay of Pomerania in the Baltic Sea. Most of the island consists of forests and postglacial hills. In the middle is the Wolin National Park. Kikut Lighthouse
Kikut Lighthouse (german: Kieckturm) is a lighthouse in the north of Poland on the Baltic Sea coast that is active since 1962. It is the highest light on Poland's coast. The lighthouse is situated near the village Wisełka on the island of Wolin and can only be reached via footpaths, steep at the end. History The lighthouse was built on the base of an ancient view tower, the ''Kiekturm''. It is one of the few Polish lighthouses, which can't be visited. Its light is visible from the neighbouring island of Usedom. The former lighthouse was built in 1826. This lighthouse was originally a 19th-century stone lookout tower. History The lighthouse in Jarosławiec is the oldest lighthouse in Poland. Its construction began in 1835 however the lighthouse was not successful due to a number of physical factors. The lighthouse was built about 400 metres from the coast – this proved to be too low to be effective for navigation. Hel Lighthouse ( pl, Latarnia Morska Hel) is an active lighthouse in the town of Hel, Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. It is situated at the eastern tip of the Hel Peninsula and guides ship traffic into Gdańsk Bay and the Bay of Puck. History The lighthouse on Hel has its origins in the 16th century when a fire was lit on the church tower at a height of to guide ships. The structure burned down. In 1638 locals asked Gdańsk authorities to build a lighthouse on the peninsula. After deliberation, a wooden structure was erected circa 1640, with a range of about . This lighthouse burned down in 1667. Two further attempts at construction failed as well. However, seafaring in this area of the Baltic remained hazardous, so around 1790 another effort was made. A site was allocated, including a lighthouse-keeper's residence. The light was to be lit every day. Hel; german: Hela (; formerly ) is a seaside resort town in Puck County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, located on the tip of the Hel Peninsula, some from the Polish mainland. History Early developments The territory became part of the emerging Polish state in the 10th century, under its first historic ruler Mieszko I. The Kashubian village of Hel was first mentioned in 1198 as a centre of herring trade area named ''Gellen''. In one of the Danish chronicles of 1219 it is mentioned that a damaged ship of King Valdemar II the Victorious was set ashore on an "Island of Hel". By the 13th century the village became one of the most important trade centres of the area, competing with the nearby city of Gdańsk.
