A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. The term "mall" originally meant a pedestrian promenade with shops along it (that is, the term was used to refer to the walkway itself which was merely bordered by such shops), but in the late 1960s, it began to be used as a generic term for the large enclosed shopping centers that were becoming commonplace at the time. In the U.K., such complexes are considered shopping centres (Commonwealth English: shopping centre), though "shopping center" covers many more sizes and types of centers than the North American "mall". Other countries may follow U.S. usage (Philippines, India, U.A.E., etc.) and others (Australia, etc.) follow U.K. usage. Pheasant Lane Mall, occupying , is one of the largest shopping malls in the state of New Hampshire and the focal point of the commercial area in south Nashua. As of , the mall has about 139 stores and kiosks, including four anchor stores: Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Macy's, and Target with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears, plus 15 restaurants. Namdar Realty Group is an American shopping mall investment company based in Great Neck, New York. They primarily purchase shopping malls with partner Mason Asset Management. Namdar and Mason are both family owned, and as of 2021, own over 400 properties including 100 plus malls. Strategy Namdar and Mason primarily purchase malls for low prices, with various problems, but do not invest in improving them. The deals for these malls are done in cash. Most malls they purchase are in markets considered B and C grade. Because of this low price/maintenance, they have a high return on investment. Steeplegate Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Concord, New Hampshire, United States. Opened in 1990, it has struggled with high vacancy rates throughout its existence. Its largest retailer is JCPenney, the only traditional store left alongside Talbots and Chico's. It also features a live theater that opened in 2016, a trampoline park that opened in 2018, and a health club that opened in 2019. Newington is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 811 at the 2020 census. It is bounded to the west by Great Bay, northwest by Little Bay and northeast by the Piscataqua River.
