Kawaii metal (also known as idol metal, cute metal, J-pop metal or kawaiicore) is a musical genre that blends elements of heavy metal and J-pop that was pioneered in Japan in the early 2010s. The genre combines both Eastern and Western influences that appeal to both cultures. A typical kawaii metal composition combines the instrumentation found in various types of heavy metal music with J-pop melodies and a Japanese idol aesthetic. Kawaii metal's lyrical topics often contain kawaii (cute, lovable, kidlike) themes, making them much less hostile than those of other heavy metal genres. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Babymetal
(stylized in all caps) is a Japanese kawaii metal band consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal" and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal". The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances. The band was formed in 2010, with the original lineup of Su-metal (vocal and dance), Moametal (scream and dance), and Yui Mizuno as "Yuimetal" (scream and dance), with the concept of creating a fusion of the heavy metal and Japanese idol genres. Originally a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became an independent act in 2013, following Nakamoto's departure from Sakura Gakuin. Dazzle Vision
Dazzle Vision was a Japanese rock music, rock band. They appeared at Sakura-Con in 2010. After playing in Taiwan in 2006, Dazzle Vision released their first album ''Origin of Dazzle''. They were well known for their heavy rock sound and female vocalist Maiko's alternating melodic/death-voice vocals. The band announced their disbandment in April 2015. History Formation Dazzle Vision formed in 2003. The two main founders of Dazzle Vision are brother and sister, Maiko and Takuro. Up until 2010, Dazzle Vision did not maintain a steady line-up, changing the drummer and several guitarists. Because of the line up changes, Dazzle Vision has managed to continue on with their work. Richard Magarey (born 3 August 1983) is an Australian stunt actor, professional wrestler, singer and YouTuber, known for his bearded crossdressing persona named . He is currently vocalist of the band BABYBEARD, formerly with the band Ladybaby and Deadlift Lolita. is a Japanese female idol group consisting of four teams. The name refers to the members of the group wearing masks which cover their faces during the performances of most songs and much of the promotional material, with the type of mask varying between the various subgroups. The music of Kamen Joshi is usually rock or heavy metal, often with rap verses. Ladybaby is a Japanese kawaii metal musical group, which originally consisted of aspiring photographic models Rie Kaneko (the only original member still in the group) and Rei Kuromiya, as well as Ladybeard, the bearded crossdressing persona of Australian male professional wrestler Richard Magarey. Necronomidol is a Japanese idol heavy metal group, formed in 2014. They have been on more than three international tours and have performed in over 12 countries. Overview The group is a prominent act in the alternative idol and kawaii metal movements. Their name is taken from the Necronomicon, the famous fictional grimoire featured in the work of H. P. Lovecraft, combined with the Japanese words for magic (魔, ''ma'') and necromancy (ネクロ魔, ''nekuro ma''), and "idol". Necronomidol has performed once at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and twice at CthulhuCon, in 2018 and 2020. A number of composers have worked with them, such as Mr. Perkele, who has worked on tracks such as "Ritual" and "Dawnslayer".
