Bjorne Islands
Bjorne Islands, da, Bjørne Øer; kl, Nannut Qeqertaat) meaning 'Bear Islands', is an island group in the Scoresby Sound, NE Greenland. The islands are uninhabited. Administratively they belong to the Sermersooq municipality. History This island group was named by Carl Ryder in the course of his 1891–92 East Greenland Expedition, because a bear was shot while the islands were being surveyed on 4 September 1891. Individual islands were not assigned names, but in 1934 they were numbered I to XI following the first survey carried out by Eduard Wenk and Helge Backlund. Members of the 1934 surveying group climbed parts of the spectacular ridges of islands VI and IX (''Första Nålbrevet'' and ''Sista Nålbrevet''). Further climbs were reported in 1978 by an expedition of the British Army. Egger Island
Egger Island ( da, Eggers Ø; kl, Itilleq, old spelling: ''Itivdleq'') is Greenland's southernmost island. It is located in the Kujalleq municipality and is uninhabited. Geography Egger Island is an important landmark for a small islet off Cape Farewell, its southern headland, is the southernmost point of Greenland. It is part of the Cape Farewell Archipelago (Nunap Isua). The island has a deeply indented coastline and is separated from the neighbouring islands of the archipelago by narrow sounds. Qunnerit lies to the west, Sammisoq to the north and the smaller Avatdlerssuaq and Saningassoq to the east. Egger Island has an area of 308.8 km2 and a shoreline of 150.2 kilometres. Cape Farewell lies at the island's southernmost tip, with a height of over 2000 feet; it is noted for bad weather. Cape Farewell Archipelago
Cape Farewell Archipelago (also Nunap Isua Archipelago) is an island group located at the southern end of Greenland in Kujalleq municipality. The archipelago takes its name from Cape Farewell, a headland of Egger Island (also known as Itilleq). Geography The Cape Farewell Archipelago is separated from the mainland's south coast by Prince Christian Sound in the north and by the Torsukattak Fjord in the west. The main islands of the group are characterized as large and mountainous, surrounded by fjord-like passages. There are also several islets and rocks. Islands Sammisoq (Christian IV Island) is the largest island of the archipelago. Borup Island
Borup Island ( da, Borup Ø), also known as West Jensen Island, is an uninhabited island of the Lincoln Sea in Peary Land, far northern Greenland. The island was formerly named after Danish zoologist Adolf Severin Jensen (1866 - 1953), professor at the University of Copenhagen, who had carried out extensive research on the fisheries of West Greenland, and who was a member of the committee of the 1931–34 Three-year Expedition ''(Treårsekspeditionen)'' Geography It is a long island off the western side of the Nansen Land Peninsula on the other side of the Thomas Thomsen Fjord, part of the De Long Fjord system.
