Daykundi Province
Daykundi ( prs, دایکندی) also spelled as Daikundi, Daykondi, Daikondi or Dai Kundi, is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the central part of the country. It has a population of about 516,504, and is a Hazara Province. Daykundi Province was carved out of the northern part of Uruzgan Province in 2004, becoming a separate province. It falls into the traditionally ethnic Hazara region known as the Hazaristan (Hazarajat) and the provincial capital is Nili. It is surrounded by Bamyan Province in the northeast, Ghazni Province in the southeast, Uruzgan Province in the south, Helmand Province in the southwest, and Ghor Province in the northwest. History Daykundi was established on March 28, 2004, when it was created from the isolated Hazara-dominated northern districts of neighboring Uruzgan Province. Lt. Gen. Murad Ali Murad ( prs, مرادعلی مراد) is a military personnel in Afghanistan, previously serving as Deputy Interior Minister for Security. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defense on 18 May 2017. Functions Gen. Murad has been responsible for the Afghanistan National Army since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001 in various parts of the country. Anwar Rahmati ( fa, انور رحمتی; born 1959) is an ethnic Arab- Hazara politician in Afghanistan. He was a governor of Daykundi province beginning on November 22, 2018. Previously he served as Governor of Sar-e Pol from May 25, 2010 to April 3, 2012 and as Governor of Ghor from August 27, 2012 to June 27, 2015. Between 2004 and 2010 he was Chief of staff to Karim Khalili. Early life Sayyed Anwar Rahmati Son of Sayyed Rahmat, is born in 1959 in Yakawlang district of Bamyan province. Abdul Haq Shafaq ( prs, عبدالحق شفق) is an ethnic Hazara politician in Afghanistan. He is the former governor of Faryab, Daykundi, Samangan and Sar-e Pol provinces. Abdul Haq Shafaq is former commander of the Hezbe Wahdat. After the fall of the Taliban he was appointed governor of Sar-e Pol Province. In 2004, Abdul Haq Shafaq switched to the province of Samangan. He was appointed governor of Takhar in 2019, left that position, and became governor of Sare Pul Province again on 20 June 2021. Qurban Ali Urozgani ( prs, قربانعلی اروزگانی) was the previous governor of Daykundi Province of Afghanistan. He was selected as governor by President Karzai in April 2010. He belongs to Hazara ethnic of Afghanistan. Early life Urozgani was born on 21 March 1958 in Khas Urozgan District of Urozgan Province. His father, Mirza Muhammad Essa, was a government employee in Helmand Province. Urozgani graduated from Technical Agriculture High School in 1979. During the university life, he started participating in anti-Soviet political parties, for which he had to quit education. Political career After the September 11 attacks, on the establishment of new government in Afghanistan, Urozgani was nominated as one of the people's Representative of Helmand province. In 2009, Urozgani was selected as the new governor of Daykundi Province after Jan Mohammad Akbari until 2012.
