List Of Former State Routes In New York
The modern New York (state), New York state route system was created in 1924 and initially consisted of roughly two dozen routes. As the system has been expanded and refined in the years since, hundreds of routes have been eliminated for several reasons. These reasons range from eliminating numerical duplication with a U.S. Highway or an Interstate Highway in New York to the removal of the highway from the state highway system. Many of the designations listed in the lists below have been reused for unrelated highways located elsewhere in New York. NY-120B (1927)
New York State Route 120A (NY 120A) is a state highway in southern Westchester County, New York, in the United States. It serves as an alternate route to the southern half of NY 120 running along the New York–Connecticut state line. The southern terminus of the route is at NY 120 in Harrison. Its northern terminus is at NY 120 in North Castle. Most of the route straddles the New York–Connecticut state line, and part of the route is physically located in Connecticut. However, this part of the highway is not recognized by Connecticut as "Route 120A", and is considered to be part of NY 120A by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). US 6 (NY)
U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in New York is a stretch of cross-country route that spans from the Pennsylvania state line at Port Jervis to the Connecticut state line east of Brewster. Near both ends it runs in close proximity to Interstate 84 (I-84), which otherwise takes a more northerly route through Downstate New York. US 6, meanwhile, skirts the northern fringe of the New York Metropolitan Area. Except for a section concurrent with the expressway portion of New York State Route 17 (the future I-86) and another brief, similar stretch in Peekskill, US 6 is a two-lane road in New York. Two stretches are shared with US 202. It goes through three of New York's traffic circles, more than any other highway in the state, and is part of the only concurrency of three U.S. routes in the state. New York State Route 301
New York State Route 301 (NY 301), also known as the Hudson River Turnpike, is an intra-county state highway stretching across three-quarters of Putnam County, New York, in the United States. The western terminus of NY 301 is at an intersection with NY 9D in Cold Spring. Its eastern terminus is at a junction with NY 52 in Carmel. Along the way, NY 301 meets U.S. Route 9 (US 9) and the Taconic State Parkway and passes through Clarence Fahnestock State Park. The section of the route between NY 9D and US 9 is ceremonially designated as the Sergeant Albert Ireland Memorial Highway. New York State Route 13 (NY 13) is a state highway that runs mainly north–south for between NY 14 in Horseheads and NY 3 west of Pulaski in Central New York in the United States. In between, NY 13 intersects with Interstate 81 (I-81) in Cortland and Pulaski and meets the New York State Thruway (I-90) in Canastota. NY 13 is co-signed with several routes along its routing, most notably NY 34 and NY 96 between Newfield and Ithaca; NY 80 between DeRuyter and Cazenovia; and NY 5 between Chittenango and Canastota. Interstate 81 (I-81) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that runs from I-40 at Dandridge, Tennessee, to the Thousand Islands Bridge at Wellesley Island in New York, beyond which the short Ontario Highway 137 (Highway 137) links it to Highway 401. In the US state of New York, I-81 extends from the Pennsylvania state line southeast of Binghamton to the Canadian border at Wellesley Island northwest of Alexandria Bay. New York State Route 126 (NY 126) is a state highway in the North Country of New York in the United States. It proceeds in a roughly northwest to southeast direction between NY 12 at the eastern city line of Watertown in central Jefferson County and NY 812 in the village of Croghan in northern Lewis County. In between, NY 126 serves the adjacent villages of West Carthage and Carthage, where the route has overlaps with NY 3 (in Carthage) and NY 26 (in West Carthage). Most of the route passes through rural areas, and the portion southeast of Carthage parallels either the Black River or a tributary of it. List Of County Routes In Westchester County, New York
County routes in Westchester County, New York, are maintained by the Westchester County highway department. They provide additional interconnections between state highways within the county. Some portions of state highways in Lower Westchester County are county-maintained and thus also carry county route designations. Additionally, actions relating to planning and zoning along some former county roads are still subject to review by the Westchester County Planning Board, and these roads still carry their county route numbers for inventory purposes. U.S. Route 9 (US 9) is a part of the U.S. Highway System that runs from Laurel, Delaware, to Champlain, New York. In New York, US 9 extends from the George Washington Bridge in Manhattan to an interchange with Interstate 87 (I-87) just south of the Canada–United States border in the town of Champlain.
