Indonesian Olympic Committee
Indonesian Olympic Committee ( id, Komite Olimpiade Indonesia, abbreviate: KOI) is the national Olympic committee of Indonesia and the member of Olympic Council of Asia. Their duty is to organize Indonesian participation in international sporting events, such as Summer Olympic Games, Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games, etc. As well as submitting bid for Indonesia as the host, planning and organizing official international sporting events to be held in Indonesia. This function was previously held by National Sports Committee of Indonesia ( id, Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia or KONI). History The Indonesian Olympic Committee was founded in 1946. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. Indonesia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1952 and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for 1964, due to controversy around the Games of the New Emerging Forces, and 1980, when they participated in the U.S.-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Indonesia is yet to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The National Olympic Committee for Indonesia was created in 1946 and recognized in 1952. As of 2020, Indonesian athletes have won a total of 37 medals, twenty-one in badminton, fifteen in weightlifting and one in archery. Among countries in Southeast Asia, Indonesia ranks first in terms of the number of overall medals (37), and second in the number of gold medals (8), only behind Thailand which has 10 gold medals. The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and commonly known as Munich 1972 (german: München 1972), was an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. The event was overshadowed by the Munich massacre in the second week, in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer at Olympic village were killed by Palestinian Black September members. The 1984 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXIII Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1984) were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage.
