Karachi Central District
Karachi Central District ( ur, ) is an administrative district of Karachi Division in Sindh, Pakistan. History The District was abolished in 2000 and divided into four towns namely Liaquatabad Town, North Nazimabad Town, Gulberg Town and New Karachi Town. On 11 July 2011 Sindh Government restored Karachi Central District again. Karachi Central District has the following dehs: Gujhro (P), in the talukas of Liaquatabad and Gulberg, and Kari Lakhi, in the taluka of North Nazimabad. Union Committees Demographics At the time of the 2017 census, Karachi Central district had a population of 2,971,382, of which 1,542,028 were males and 1,428,860 females. Fishing In Pakistan
Fishery and fishing industry plays a significant part in the national economy of Pakistan. With a coastline of about 1,120 km, Pakistan has enough fishery resources that remain to be developed. Most of the population of the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan depends on fisheries for livelihood. It is also a major source of export earning. Fishing industry is managed by the Fisheries Development Commissioner (FDC) under the Ministry Food, Agriculture Livestock (MFAL) of Government of Pakistan. The office of the FDC is responsible for policy, planning and coordination with provincial fisheries departments and other national and international agencies such as Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission. The marine subsector is overlooked by Marine Fisheries Department (MFD). The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) is engaged in the research of the industry. Pishukan
Pishukan ( bal, ), is a town on the western shore of the Gwadar West Bay, north of the Arabian Sea, in Pakistan. It is a union council of Gwadar Tehsil in the Gwadar District of Balochistan province of Pakistan. The town has a population of 12,000. History The town has been affected by the ongoing conflict between pro-independence Baloch nationalists and the Government of Pakistan. In May 2017 ten construction and road workers were killed by members of the Balochistan Liberation Army. Pishukan is a major conduit for people smuggling, arms smuggling, and for drug smuggling. The town was mentioned in 1909 as the landing site for up to 1,500 rifles which were being smuggled into Balochistan. Ormara Fish Harbour
Ormara ( Balochi, ur, ), is a town in Gwadar District in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. It is a port on the Makran coastal region. It is located west of Karachi and east of Gwadar on the Arabian Sea. This port is also mentioned in ''Periplus of the Erythraean Sea'' as Oraea. History Going towards Gwadar through the Makran Coastal Highway, Ormara comes in midway between Karachi and Gwadar. Its historical routes are linked with Alexander the Great, who stayed there with his army for a few days on his way back from the Indus region after conquering the lands of Sindh, Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions of modern-day Pakistan in 400 BC. Korangi District ( ur, ) is one of the seven administrative districts of Karachi last modified in 2013, part of the Karachi Division in Sindh, Pakistan.
