Allen Broussard
Allen Edgar Broussard (April 13, 1929 – November 5, 1996) was an American attorney who rose to become an associate justice of the California Supreme Court from July 22, 1981, to August 31, 1991. Biography Broussard was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the son of Clemire and Eugenia Broussard. At the age of sixteen, he moved with his family to California, where his father was a longshoreman, and his mother worked as a seamstress. His parents were of Creole ancestry. As a young man, Broussard held various part-time jobs, including selling shoes and working in a canning plant. Robert Peter Aguilar (April 15, 1931 – December 2, 2020) was a former United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Education and career Born in Madera, California, Aguilar received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1954 and pursued legal studies at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law graduating in 1959. Wiley William Manuel (August 28, 1927–January 5, 1981) was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of California from 1977 to 1981 and the first African American to serve on the high court. Biography Manuel was born in Oakland, California, grew up near Ward and Dohr Streets in South Berkeley, and was educated in the public schools. Solomon Heydenfeldt
Solomon Heydenfeldt (1816 – September 15, 1890) was an American attorney who was an associate justice of the California Supreme Court from 1852 to 1857. He was the second Jewish justice of the court, after Henry A. Lyons, but was the first elected by direct vote of the people. Biography In 1816, Heydenfeldt was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He read law in the offices of William F. De Saussure, a son of the noted Chancellor Henry William de Saussure. In 1837, at 21 years of age, Heydenfeldt moved to Russell County and Tallapoosa County, Alabama. There, he was admitted to the state bar, practiced law, and in 1841 served as a judge.
