Batu Caves
Batu Caves ( ta, பத்து மலை : Pathumalai) is a mogote (a type of karst landform) that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word ''batu'', meaning 'rock'. The hill was originally known as ''Kapal Tanggang'' from the legend of Si Tanggang. The town nearby is named after the Batu Caves limestone formation. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Tamil festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Murugan as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca. History The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan ...

Heteropoda
''Heteropoda'' is a genus of spiders in the family Sparassidae, the huntsman spiders. They are mainly distributed in tropical Asia and Australia, while at least one species, ''H. venatoria'', has a cosmopolitan distribution,Airamé, S. and P. Sierwald. (2000)Hunting and feeding behavior of one ''Heteropoda'' species in lowland rainforest on Borneo (Aranae, Sparassidae). ''Journal of Arachnology'' 28(2), 251-53. and ''H. variegata'' occurs in the Mediterranean. These spiders catch and eat insects, but in a laboratory study one species readily ate fish and tadpoles when offered, and ''H. venatoria'' has been known to eat scorpions and bats.Ross, J., et al. (1982)The life cycle of ''Heteropoda venatoria'' (Linnaeus) (Araneae: Heteropodidae). ''Psyche'' 89, 297-306. The largest species in the genus, ''H. maxima'', is about 4.6 centimeters long but has a legspan of up to 30 centimeters, therefore being the largest of any extant spider. Species As of August 2022, there were 189 spe ...

Psechridae
Psechridae is a family (biology), family of Araneomorphae, araneomorph spiders with about 70 species in two genera. These are among the biggest cribellate spiders with body lengths up to and funnel webs more than in diameter. The family belongs to the RTA clade of spiders because they all have a Retrolateral Tibial Apophysis on the male pedipalp. A recent phylogenetic analysis places Psechridae as close relatives of the lynx spiders, wolf spiders, and nursery web spiders. They feature several characteristics normally found in ecribellate spiders, for example brood care behavior, and a colulus with no apparent function. They have greatly elongated legs, with the last element being very flexible. Female ''Psechrus'' carry their egg-sac in the chelicerae, similar to their relatives, the ecribellate Pisauridae. Members of ''Psechrus'' construct horizontal webs lace webs, while ''Fecenia'' construct pseudo-orbs, similar to orb webs of Orbiculariae spiders in an example of Convergen ...

Pholcidae
The Pholcidae are a family of araneomorph spiders. The family contains over 1,800 individual species of pholcids, including those commonly known as cellar spider, daddy long-legs spider, carpenter spider, daddy long-legger, vibrating spider, gyrating spider, long daddy, and skull spider. The family, first described by Carl Ludwig Koch in 1850, is divided into 94 genera. The common name "daddy long-legs" is used for several species, especially ''Pholcus phalangioides'', but is also the common name for several other arthropod groups, including harvestmen and crane flies. Appearance Pholcids are thin and delicate arachnids. The body, resembling the shape of a peanut, is approximately 2–10 mm (0.08–0.39 inch) in length, and the legs may be up to 50 mm (1.97 inches) long. ''Pholcus'' and ''Smeringopus'' have cylindrical abdomens and eyes arranged in two lateral groups of three and two smaller median contiguous eyes. Arrangements of eight and six ey ...

Ochyroceratidae
Ochyroceratidae is a six-eyed spider family, with 165 described species in ten genera. They are common inhabitants of caves and the tropical forest litter of South Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and South America. Considered an ecological counterpart of the Linyphiidae of the northern temperate zone, species are especially diverse in the Indo-Pacific region. These spiders build small, irregular sheet-webs in dark, damp places and typically carry eggs in their chelicerae until they hatch. Body length can range from , and some species with very long legs (''Althepus'', ''Leclercera'') are superficially similar to members of Pholcidae. Differences between males and females are still relatively unknown, but at least one species in the genus ''Theotima'' (''T. minutissima'') was shown to be parthenogenetic. Genera , the World Spider Catalog accepts the following genera: *''Dundocera'' Machado, 1951 — Angola *'' Euso'' Saaristo, 2001 — Seychelles *''Fageicera'' Dumitrescu & Georgescu ...

Liphistiidae
The spider family Liphistiidae, recognized by Tamerlan Thorell in 1869, comprises 8 genera and about 100 species of medium-sized spiders from Southeast Asia, China, and Japan. They are among the most basal living spiders, belonging to the suborder Mesothelae. In Japan, the Kimura spider (''Heptathela kimurai'') is well known. Biology Liphistiidae are tube-dwelling spiders that construct rudimentary trap-doors. They spend most of their time here and are rarely seen above ground. The medium to large spiders range from long. They are characterized by their downward pointing, daggerlike chelicerae, and the segmented series of plates on the upper surface of the abdomen. The carapace is mostly flat, though it can be slightly elevated near the head. The eyes are distinctly clustered together on a single nodule. Anterior median eyes are small, but posterior median eyes are large and round. The lateral eyes are long and kidney-shaped. The distal leg segments have strong spines and thre ...
