List Of Family Relations In The NHL
This is a list of family relations in the National Hockey League. Since the creation of the National Hockey League in 1917, family members have been involved in all aspects of the league. Although most connections are among players, there have been family members involved in coaching and managing as well. Since 1917, 47 pairs of brothers have played together on the same team; among them, ten have won the Stanley Cup together. Brothers have also squared off against each other five times in the Stanley Cup Finals, most recently in 2003. Twenty-six sons have followed in their fathers' footsteps and played for his team. Brandon Sutter
Brandon Sutter (born February 14, 1989) is an American-born Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Carolina Hurricanes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Vancouver Canucks. Playing career Junior Sutter played major junior hockey with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL) under head coach and father Brent Sutter. During the 2006–07 WHL season, 2006–07 season, he was selected to represent the WHL at the annual ADT Canada-Russia Challenge. Dave Allison
David Bryan Allison (born April 14, 1959) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and coach. He played three games with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1983–84 season and was head coach of the Ottawa Senators during the 1995–96 season. He was the head coach of the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers from 2014 to 2018. In January 2022, he was hired as the head coach of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the North American Hockey League. Playing career Born in Fort Frances, Ontario, Allison spent his junior hockey career with the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), appearing in 189 games from 1976 to 1979, and registering 89 points (18G-71A). New York Americans
The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. They were the third expansion team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the second to play in the United States. The team never won the Stanley Cup, but reached the semifinals twice. While it was the first team in New York City, it was eclipsed by the second, the New York Rangers, which arrived in 1926 under the ownership of the Amerks' landlord, Madison Square Garden (1925), Madison Square Garden. The team played as the Brooklyn Americans during the 1941–42 NHL season, 1941–42 season before suspending operations in 1942 due to World War II and long-standing financial difficulties. Vivan Mariner "Squee" Allen (September 9, 1916 — August 15, 1995) was a Canadian ice hockey right winger who played for several teams over a 12-year career. Allen played 11 games for the New York Americans of the National Hockey League during the 1940–41 season. He spent the rest of his career, which lasted from 1936 to 1950, in the minor leagues. George Allen (ice Hockey)
George Trenholm Allen (July 27, 1914 – March 27, 2000) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played Left wing in the National Hockey League, mostly for the Chicago Black Hawks, between 1938 and 1947. Allen was born in Bayfield, New Brunswick, but grew up in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Playing career Allen began his career playing in various locations in the east, until he joined the North Battleford Beavers of the Northern Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League, with whom he went to the Allan Cup final in 1937, where they lost to the Sudbury Tigers. After playing four games with the Tigers himself the following year, Allen was then signed by the New York Rangers, and assigned to their New Haven Eagles farm team. Paul Tetsuhiko Kariya (born October 16, 1974) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger who played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL).
