Dubstep
Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the early 2000s. The style emerged as a UK garage offshoot that blended 2-step rhythms and sparse dub production, as well as incorporating elements of broken beat, grime, and drum and bass.Reynolds, S.(2012),''Energy Flash: A Journey Through Rave Music and Dance Culture,'' Perseus Books; Reprint edition (5 January 2012), pages 511–516, (). MTV (UK And Ireland)
MTV is a British pay television channel focusing on reality TV and music programming operated by Paramount Networks UK & Australia. The channel launched as part of Viacom International Media Networks Europe, MTV Networks Europe localisation strategy in 1997. MTV UK (previously MTV UK & Ireland; MTV One) was launched on 1 July 1997. The channel was set up to provide audiences with local artists and more relevant music content. Prior to the localisation of MTV in Europe, the region was served by MTV Europe which was launched on 1 August 1987. Since February 2011 MTV has been solely an entertainment channel. Datsik (musician)
Troy Beetles, (born June 8, 1988) better known by his stage name Datsik, is a former Canadian DJ and music producer. His first release was in the spring of 2009. He has since played at venues all over the world, including festivals such as Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Stereosonic, Boonstock, Shambhala Music Festival, and Electric Zoo. In March 2015, Datsik partnered with Electronic Music lifestyle brand Electric Family to produce a bracelet for which 100% of the proceeds are donated to Lupus Foundation of America, which works to cure and improve the lives of all that are affected by Lupus. In March 2018, Beetles was accused of sexual assault spanning multiple years, resulting in public backlash and cancellation of all Datsik appearances at upcoming shows and festivals. Crizzly
Christopher Lee Marshall, better known by his stage name Crizzly, is a DJ, and producer. Currently based in Austin, Texas, he began DJing in 2010, developing a style that incorporates dubstep, crunk, hyphy, drumstep, and trap, among other genres. He has released several singles and three mixtapes, titled ''Crunkstep'' (2012), ''Crunkstep Volume 2: Back 2 Da Streets'' (2013), and "Crunkstep Volume 3: Booty by Crizzly" (2014). He has also remixed songs such as "James Brown Is Dead" by L.A. Style, "Hard in Da Paint" by Waka Flocka Flame, "Chain Hang Low" by Jibbs, " The Way We Ball" by Lil Flip, and "Put It Down" by Bassnectar and Excision. Crankdat
Christian Smith (born March 2, 1997), known professionally as Crankdat, is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer. Early life Smith grew up desiring to be an athlete, but ultimately turned down a full-ride track-and-field scholarship to Kent State University to pursue music, producing energetic and melodically vibrant electronic dance music as Crankdat. Smith began making music while still in high school. Career Smith originally gained recognition for remixing other artists' tracks, including Fetty Wap's breakout single, "Trap Queen." Eventually these remixes racked up millions of plays and Smith, barely out of his teens, was getting attention from bigger names in electronic dance music such as Skrillex and The Chainsmokers. Alexander George Clare (c. 1985) is an English singer and songwriter. His debut album, '' The Lateness of the Hour'', was released in the UK on 11 July 2011 on Island Records and was produced by Mike Spencer and Major Lazer. Chase & Status
Chase & Status are an English electronic music duo composed of Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status). In addition, Andy Gangadeen is the drummer when the band performs live. MC Rage formerly performed as MC with the group, but left in July 2021 to focus on solo ventures. The duo are from London, and formed in 2003 after meeting at university in Manchester. The duo have since released five studio albums and collaborated with major artists such as Plan B, CeeLo Green, Rihanna, Example, and Tinie Tempah. They run the independent record label MTA Records. Burial (musician)
William Emmanuel Bevan, known by his recording alias Burial, is a British electronic musician from South London. Initially remaining anonymous, Burial became the first artist signed to Kode9's electronic label Hyperdub in 2005. He won acclaim the following year for his self-titled debut album, an influential release in the UK's dubstep scene which showcased a dark, emotive take on UK rave music styles such as UK garage and 2-step; it was named the album of the year by ''The Wire''. Bro Safari
Nicholas Weiller, better known by his stage name Bro Safari, also known as Knick, is an American moombahton, trap, and dubstep producer. Biography Weiller was born in Rome, Italy, into a family with three brothers and one sister. The entire family moved back to Atlanta, Georgia. While growing up in Atlanta, he took to playing several instruments, including guitar, bass, and drums. Although an avid punk rock fan, he gained a deep interest in electronic music in college and began producing Drum N' Bass around 1999. He joined the drum and bass trio Evol Intent in 2000 in his hometown of Atlanta. Weiller has also produced trap, moombahton, and dubstep under the moniker Bro Safari starting in 2008.
