The government of the Indian state of Odisha and its 30 districts consists of an executive, led by the Governor of Odisha, a judiciary, and a legislative branch. Hemananda Biswal
Hemananda Biswal (1 December 1939 – 25 February 2022) was an Indian politician. Biswal served as Chief Minister of Odisha from 7 December 1989 to 5 March 1990, and again from 6 December 1999 to 5 March 2000. He was also the MP of Sundergarh from 2009 to 2014. Biswal was the first Tribal chief Minister of Odisha. Early life and education Biswal was born in Thakurpada village of Odisha on 1 December 1939, to Basudev and Trimani Biswal. He completed intermediate education from Government College, Sundargarh, and by profession was an agriculturist. Political career In 1974, he was elected for the first time to the Odisha Legislative Assembly and served until 1977. Later, in 1980, he was again elected from the Jharsuguda as MLA, a position he held until 2004. Basant Kumar Biswal (August 23, 1936 – September 7, 2003) was a politician belonging to the Indian National Congress party from Odisha. He was Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha. He was member of the legislative assembly from Tirtol assembly constituency and was Vice-President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. Janaki Ballabh Patnaik
Janaki Ballabh Patnaik (3 January 1927 – 21 April 2015) was an Indian politician who had been Governor of Assam from 2009 to 2014. A leader of the Indian National Congress, he was Chief Minister of Odisha from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999, holding that post for the longest time on record before Naveen Patnaik. After the completion of his early education at Khurda High School, he passed his B.A. degree in Sanskrit from the Utkal University in 1947 and passed his M.A. degree in political science from the Banaras Hindu University in 1949. In 1950, he became the President of the Odisha state unit of the youth wing of the Congress. In 1980, he became the Union Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation and Labour. Nandini Satpathy (9 June 1931 – 4 August 2006) was an Indian politician and author. She was the List of Chief Ministers of Odisha, Chief Minister of Odisha from June 1972 to December 1976. Early life Nandini Satpathy nee Panigrahi was born on 9 June 1931 to Kalindi Charan Panigrahi and Ratnamani Panigrahi in a Brahmin Family of Coastal Puri but grew up in Pithapur, Cuttack, India. Satpathy's uncle Bhagavati Charan Panigrahi founded the Odisha branch of the Communist Party of India. He was a close associate of Netaji SC Bose. Utkal Congress was a political party in the Indian state of Odisha. It was formed in 1969 when Biju Patnaik left Indian National Congress. After the 1971 Odisha elections UC took part in the Bishwanath Das ministry in the state. In 1974 Utkal Congress merged into Bharatiya Lok Dal. Background Odisha was a stronghold of Congress in immediate post independence era. However factionalism was rife. A group of Congress dissidents led by Harekrushna Mahatab split in 1967 to form Jana Congress. In 1967 general election Most of the leadership of Congress lost.
