National Basketball Association
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in North America. The league is composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada) and is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. It is the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It changed its name to the National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with the competing National Basketball League (NBL). The New York Knickerbockers, shortened and more commonly referred to as the New York Knicks, are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The Knicks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The MSG Network (MSG) is an American regional cable and satellite television network, and radio service owned by MSG Entertainment, Inc.—a spin-off of the main Madison Square Garden Company operation (itself a spin-off of local cable provider Cablevision). Rebecca Haarlow
Rebecca Haarlow (born December 20, 1978) is an American sideline reporter for MSG Network, NBA TV, the NBA on TNT, and the Big Ten Network. Previously she served as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net, and as an anchor and reporter for the NFL Network. Early years Haarlow is a native of western suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She attended Hinsdale Central High School where she won six Class AA state track and field medals. Haarlow finished eighth in the 800-meter medley relay, eighth in the 400 relay and also finished sixth in the triple jump in 1996. In 1997, she finished second in the 100 high hurdles, fifth in the 300 low hurdles and sixth in the triple jump while in high school. She also graduated from Princeton University. Monica McNutt (born October 24, 1989) is an American basketball analyst for ESPN. McNutt is also a former player of the Georgetown Hoyas Women's Basketball team. Early life and playing career McNutt was born on October 24, 1989 in Suitland, Maryland. She played high school basketball at the Academy of the Holy Cross in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, where she averaged more than 11 points per game and led the team in free throw percentage, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage. She was named MVP of the Maryland Private School Tournament. At Georgetown she earned Second Team All-Big East honors as a junior, when she averaged 11.2 points per game and led the team with 73 steals. Alan William Hahn (born June 19, 1971) is a sports talk radio host on ESPN Radio and a studio analyst on the MSG Network. Early life and education Hahn is a Long Island native born in Smithtown, New York. He learned how to read as a child by sounding out headlines in his hometown newspaper, '' Newsday''. Hahn attended St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, New York, where he played varsity basketball in the Catholic High School Athletic Association. Walter Robert Szczerbiak Jr. ( ; born March 5, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player and current color analyst for the New York Knicks on MSG Network. He played 10 seasons for four teams in the National Basketball Association, and was named an NBA All-Star during the 2001-02 season. He played college basketball for Miami University, and is one of five players to have his Miami jersey retired. Early life Szczerbiak was born in Madrid, Spain, to Marilyn and Walter Szczerbiak, a former ABA player who helped lead Real Madrid to three FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague) championships. Walt Frazier
Walter "Clyde" Frazier Jr. (born March 29, 1945) is an American former professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As their floor general and top perimeter defender, he led the New York Knicks to the franchise's only two championships (1970 and 1973), and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Upon his retirement from basketball, Frazier went into broadcasting; he is currently a color commentator for telecasts of Knicks games on the MSG Network. Augustus Cornelius Johnson Jr. (born ) is an American sportscaster. He is the lead play-by-play announcer for Fox Sports calling college football and college basketball. Prior to working with Fox, he was with CBS Sports. Early life and education Johnson was born in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated in 1985 from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. He was an all-league quarterback and co-captain of the school's football team, an all-league shooting guard, co-captain and MVP of the basketball team and a first baseman and catcher on the baseball team. Bill Pidto (born April 20, 1965) is a former radio personality on Mad Dog Radio on the show ''The B-Team'' and is currently an anchor for MSG Network's coverage of New York Rangers road games and select New York Knicks games. He was formerly a journalist for ESPN from 1993 to 2008. He was often seen as one of the anchors for ESPNews. NBA On ABC
The ''NBA on ABC'' is an American presentation of National Basketball Association (NBA) games produced by ESPN, and televised on ABC. After the ABC Sports division was integrated with its cable sister network in September 2006, broadcasts have since primarily used the ''NBA on ESPN'' branding and graphics instead of ''NBA on ABC'' name. ABC originally broadcast NBA games from 1965 to 1973. In 2002, NBA games returned to the network as part of a contract signed with the league, along with ESPN.
