A church, church building or church house is a building used for Christian worship services and other Christian religious activities. Marko's Monastery
Marko's Monastery ( Macedonian and sr, Марков Манастир) is a monastery located in the village of Markova Sušica, from central Skopje in North Macedonia. The monastery bears the name of Serbian Prince Marko who reigned at the time of its completion. Marko's Monastery has been active since its establishment. Description Marko's Monastery contains a single cross-shaped church dedicated to Saint Demetrius. The monastery grounds also consist of lodgings, a belfry, a well, warehouses, a bakery, and a mill. The monastery still operates a special oven used to make rakija. The church has a narthex, a central dome and a smaller dome on the western side. It was built of bricks and stone. The iconstasis is made of stone pillars. The frescoes inside the church were done by a number of painters from the region. Gorno Nerezi
Gorno Nerezi (, sq, Nerez i Epërm) is a village in the municipality of Karpoš, North Macedonia. The settlement is situated at an altitude of 771 meters (2532 feet). It is located on the wooded slopes of Mt. Vodno, covers a 7 km radius. Located in Gorno Nerezi is the Church of St. Panteleimon, dedicated to the protector of health. The church was constructed in 1164 by order of Alexius Angelus Comnenus, a member of the imperial family. The frescoes are famous examples of Comnenian Age Byzantine Art. Demographics According to the 1467-68 Ottoman defter, Nerezi appears as being inhabited by an Orthodox Albanian population. Matka Canyon
Matka ( mk, Матка, meaning ''womb'', sq, Matkë, Kanioni i Matkës) is a canyon located west of central Skopje, North Macedonia. Covering roughly 5,000 hectares, Matka is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in North Macedonia and is home to several medieval monasteries. The Matka Lake within the Matka Canyon is the oldest artificial lake in the country. Geology There are ten caves at Matka Canyon, with the shortest in length being 20 metres (65.6 feet) and the longest being 176 metres (577.4 feet). The canyon also features two vertical pits, both roughly extending 35 metres (114.8 feet) in depth.
