The figures are collected by the different operating agencies of each railway station, and are estimates based on ticket usage data, crowd sizes and other extrapolations. Methodology This list ranks railway stations in North America based on annual volume of passengers traveling by passenger rail or commuter rail only. Other visitors are not included. Chicago Union Station is an intercity and commuter rail terminal located in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The station is Amtrak's flagship station in the Midwest. AirTrain JFK is an elevated people mover system and airport rail link serving John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK Airport) in New York City. The driverless system operates 24/7 and consists of three lines and nine stations within the New York City borough of Queens. It connects the airport's terminals with the New York City Subway in Howard Beach, Queens, and with the Long Island Rail Road and the subway in Jamaica, Queens.
