Silver Spur (also written as Silverspur) is a rural town and locality in the Goondiwindi Region, Queensland, Australia. It is on the border of Queensland and New South Wales. In the , Silver Spur had a population of 72 people. History Silverspur Provisional School opened on 27 May 1895. On 1 November 1912 it became Silverspur State School. It closed on 1960. It was on the Stanthorpe – Texas Road on the corner of Hilton Street (). St Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church was dedicated on 19 August 1932 by the Archbishop of Brisbane Gerald Sharp. Texas Railway Line
The Texas railway line is a disused branch railway of the South Western railway line in the south of the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia, and was the last traditional branch line railway constructed in Queensland. The McDougall brothers settled land in the Texas region in about 1840. They later had to prove their claim to the property after another settler moved in during their absence. At the time, the Republic of Texas in North America was in the midst of a land war with neighbouring Mexico and thus they called their property Texas station. Deposits of silver, lead and copper were mined at Silver Spur about east of Texas. Tobacco was grown in the Texas region along with a busy trade in rabbit meat and skins. Nanango is a rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Nanango had a population of 3,599 people. Geography Nanango is situated north-west of the state capital, Brisbane, at the junction of the D'Aguilar Highway with the Burnett Highway. Sandy Creek () meanders through the town. The locality is part of the Burnett River catchment. The productive lands of the catchment feature sedimentary floodplains. Yarraman is a rural town and locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Yarraman had a population of 1,064 people. Geography Yarraman is located northwest of the state capital, Brisbane on the junction of the New England and D'Aguilar highways. The Brisbane Valley railway line was a railway connection in Queensland, Australia connecting Ipswich, west of Brisbane, to the upper Brisbane River valley. South Western Railway Line, Queensland
The South Western line is a narrow gauge railway line in the southern part of the state of Queensland, Australia. It junctions from the Southern line immediately south of Warwick station and proceeded westwards for a distance of 413 km to the town of Dirranbandi. A western extension to Boomie in New South Wales, approved by the Queensland Parliament in 1914, was never constructed. The Thallon-to-Dirranbandi section was closed on 2 September 2010. It services the small towns of Inglewood (junction of the now closed Texas branch) and Goondiwindi as well as the villages of Yelarbon and Thallon among others. History The South Western line opened as far as Thane on 1 July 1904 and was completed to Dirranbandi on 21 May 1913. Taroom
Taroom is a town in the Shire of Banana and locality split between the Shire of Banana and the Western Downs Region in Queensland, Australia. At the , Taroom had a population of 869 people. Geography The town is located on the Dawson River and the Leichhardt Highway, north west of the state capital, Brisbane, from Rockhampton and from Toowoomba. History Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt passed through the district in 1844, carving his initials and date on a coolibah tree that now stands in the centre of town. Leichhardt's carving is no longer visible following an alleged attempt to remove bark growing over the initials that removed the initials as well.
