The Ambassador of Switzerland to France is the representative of the government of Switzerland in France and thus responsible for maintaining relations between Switzerland and France. First permanent diplomatic representation The first permanent Swiss diplomatic representation abroad was opened in Paris in April 1798 at the time of the Helvetic Republic. Today, the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation as well as the residence of the Swiss Ambassador are housed in the Hôtel de Besenval in Paris. The Hôtel de Besenval is a historic ''hôtel particulier'' in Paris with a ''Court of honor (architecture), cour d'honneur'' and a large English landscape garden, an architectural style commonly known as ''entre cour et jardin'' – meaning a residence between the entrance court in front of the building and the garden behind it. Livia Leu stylized Leu Agosti (; born 1961) is a Swiss attorney and diplomat. She currently serves as the State Secretary and EU-negotiator since 14 October 2020. Leu previously served as the Swiss Ambassador to Iran between 2009 and 2013. She was the first female from Europe to hold this position. François Nordmann
François Nordmann (born 1942 in Fribourg) is a Swiss diplomat and a columnist who writes on foreign affairs. Training Nordmann studied law at the University of Fribourg and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. Career From 1974 to 1980, Nordmann was an elected member of the Grand Council of Fribourg, the legislature of the canton of Fribourg, in Switzerland. Edouard Brunner
Edouard Brunner (February 24, 1932 – June 25, 2007) was a Swiss diplomat, ambassador, and United Nations mediator. Biography Brunner was born in Istanbul. A product of a diplomatic family, he studied law in Geneva and entered the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1956. He began his diplomatic career with posts in Bogotá, Washington, D.C., Warsaw, The Hague, and the United Nations in New York City. In the 1960s he got married with Mirjam Rahola.
