Zenith Aviation
The zenith (, ) is an imaginary point directly "above" a particular location, on the celestial sphere. "Above" means in the vertical direction (plumb line) opposite to the gravity direction at that location (nadir). The zenith is the "highest" point on the celestial sphere. Origin The word "zenith" derives from an inaccurate reading of the Arabic language, Arabic expression (), meaning "direction of the head" or "path above the head", by Medieval Latin scribes in the Middle Ages (during the 14th century), possibly through Old Spanish. It was reduced to "samt" ("direction") and miswritten as "senit"/"cenit", the "m" being misread as "ni". Through the Old French "cenith", "zenith" first appeared in the 17th century. Zambian Airways
Zambian Airways was the flag carrier of Zambia, based in Lusaka, Zambia. Zambian Airways suspended operations on January 10, 2009. History Mines Air Services Limited (MAS) was incorporated in 1948 as a subsidiary of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM). As part of the process of privatisation of the mines, MAS was disposed of by the government of Zambia on 28 April 1998. MAS purchased two new Raytheon Beech 1900D Airliner aircraft from Raytheon Credit Corporation (RCC) in July and August 1998 respectively. The company has been operating these two aircraft since then, under the trading name of Zambian Airways. On 10 January 2009, the company announced it was suspending operations citing high fuel costs as the main reason. Zambezi Airlines
Zambezi Airlines was a privately owned airline headquartered in Lusaka, Zambia, that operated flights to south and western Africa out of its base at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. History Zambezi Airlines began operations in July 2008. The airline first operated an Embraer 120. In May 2009, it acquired two Boeing 737-500. In June 2009, operations to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, commenced. In the same month, the airline was authorized by the Zambia Competition Commission to form an alliance with Proflight Commuter Services. On 1 November 2011, the airline licence of Zambezi Airlines was suspended because of safety issues. Subsequently, the airline was dismantled in 2012. Zambia Skyways was an airline based in Lusaka, Zambia. The airline, which formerly traded as Eastern Air. Zambia Skyways started flying, as Eastern Air, in 1993. ZanAir Limited is a domestic airline based in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It was founded in 1992 in Zanzibar. History ZanAir was established in 1992 by Carl G. OJSC AMO ZiL, known fully as the Public Joint-Stock Company – Likhachov Plant () and more commonly called ZiL (, was a major Russian automobile, truck, military vehicle, and heavy equipment manufacturer that was based in Moscow, Russia. The last ZiL vehicle was assembled in 2012. The company continues to exist only as real-estate development site, on which a new urban district will be built by the LSR Group construction company. History The factory was founded on 2 August 1916 as the Moscow Automotive Society or AMO ().
